Travis Morgan would disagree. :)
This shows that warlords are good, but leaders are evil.

I think we need to know more about the abilities of the Warlord, and the description WotC wrote up about it. Champion or Knight might fit just as well as far as a naming concept goes.

Does anyone else think they ended up with 'warlord' mostly because they didn't want to call it 'noble', which is the usual name for a class with the role the warlord seems to be heading for?

(still thinks the 4e core classes should be cleric, fighter, mage, noble, ranger, and rogue, with paladin as a PrC)

...but noble implies too much a family status. Noble means aristocrat. Every character could be born in a noble family and pick any other class.

I would have said to ask Monte Cook for permission to call it "Warmain." That name works even better for me. :)

If WoTC asks he will agree to Mainwar. Haha. I'm so funny I kill myself.

Champion is a good name as Traycore suggests. Champion is also a good name for the paladin since they have started to take on any supplicants now.

Hm. Still likes oh captain my captain better. The acronym is the best thing about it:

Cap.

What a terrible name. First off, warlord has pretty heavy negative connotations. It's a bully, a thug who rules by force. Second, a warlord leads an army, not a small group of skirmishers. Third, it's a grandiose title, inappropriate for low-level characters.
I'm going to throw in a "me too" for this.

I seriously dislike warlord. I voted for commander, since it's descriptive but doesn't have too much baggage. Captain would also be good, but may have too many nautical & military connotations. Marshall is also decent, but has a grandiose meaning in Europe, a cowboy meaning in the West, and is a homophone of "martial" power source.

As of this posting, Warlord is the single most popular name (even beating out 'something else').
Yes. But only 30% of the replies are in favor of the Warlord. The remainder 70% are opposed to it. They just can't decide on the alternative.

If so many people are upset with the name, they should just change it back to the original "Bard."

Wait... What? You didn't hear that from me. Move along.
