Also, one has to wonder now what happened to Recloak's mom- so I predict a flashback strip at some point in the near future.

That would be the obvious conclusion, yes- but it's an opportunity for further character development of one of the main villians! Do you really think Rich will pass up the chance? Even if he doesn't do it online, he wrote in the second book that more prequel strips would be coming to explain the backstory of some of the other characters- Recloak is an obvious one to do it for.Nifft said:

I'm thinking simulacrum, or else just an awakened skeleton in a fancy suit. But then again, Rich has been known to use custom spells before; if he's feeling really sneaky, Xykon could have a custom magic jar that put his mind in the necklace and some random hobgoblin into his own real body.
Various kinds of polymorph could also be very useful in this situation, but it's hard to say which, since I don't know whether Xykon has read the errata yet.
