And here's a trick to embeed an image. Browse the pic, when you see it in your web browser, right-click on it and do "copy". Then, when you type your reply, right-click IN the message-composition window, and do "paste".​

The photo reference can be found at the LOTR website....as for how I did it:

1. Paper: Letramax 4000 (Illustration Board)
2. Pencil: Standard .5 Mech Pencil....Black Backround worked in with powdered graphite
3. Method: Graphed out the photo and my illustration board and proceeded to be very, very anal about laying down the graphite

Lee Hammond's books are excellent resources for protrait drawing skills. I have, at my home computer that is, all of my inprogress scans if you're interested...I assure you this is not a photo manipulation....there are some errors in it that drive me bonkers.

Wow...

Just... wow. The sketches of Gollum and Legolas are GREAT and most of the others are REALLY F-ing good. The only one that I saw that I have an issue with is Groms Hammer. The face is excellent, the armored shoulders are good, too. But the arms and legs look HUGE (the arms and hands in particular look like giants' arms) and the feet look... well just weird. I dont know what it is about the feet.
Overall, though Very nice work and WAY better than I can draw.
I guess the old saying is true: those who can, do. Thos who can't, become critics.

heheeheheh.....dont sweat it....criticism can be a good thing

since I dont have many commissions....most of my pics are just concept sketches that....well....went a little overboard. I was going for the arms and hands look as a n experiment....but the feet werent intentional.....I dont like'em etiher (the feet that is....the hands and arms I kinda like). I tend to spray my pieces 24 hrs after completion so as not to keep messing with'em forcing me to move on to other projects...lol....Groms feet fell vicitim to that ploy.

lol....thanks....I dont consider myself very good at armor so I tried extra hard on this piece (is one of very few commissioned pieces). Wanted to make it as real as my mind could imagine it.

does Drizzt have a daughter?....have only read 10,000 Orcs.....must read some more
