A new Unearthed Arcana is up, featuring a revised version of the Psion class. Per a D&D Beyond article, the Psion has seen considerable changes. Feedback for the class focused into three main areas - Psionic Energy Dice, Psionic Modes, and Spellcasting. Psionic Energy Dice are now more flexible and easier to obtain - a new feature called Psionic Reserves allows players to regain uses of Psionic Energy Dice and Telepathic Propel and Telepathic Connection allow players to use those abilities one time each without expending energy dice. Meanwhile, Psionic Modes has been cut from the class, with various aspects of the ability being incorporated into various subclasses as new features. Finally, the Psion now has an updated and expanded playlist. The UA also contains seven brand new spells and updated versions of existing spells as well.

Additionally, the Metamorph, Psykinetic, and Telepath have all received updates. The Metamorph's abilities now often feature a roll of the Psionic Energy Die while they're being expended. The Psykinetic gains a Stronger Telekinesis feature with an improved Mage Hand spell use. Also, players can now use Telekinetic Propel without expending a Psionic Energy Dice. Finally, the Telepath has a new Telepathic Distraction feature that lets you interfere with another creature's attack roll if it's within range of your telepathy. Scramble Minds was redesigned to reduce the number of dice rolls needed to keep combat from getting bogged down.

Is it me, or does Organic Weapon have a lot of extra words? Like why would you ever take the magic action to change them?

When you take the Attack action, you can use this feature before you make the attack roll....
Your limb retains the form until you .... return the limb to its previous form (no action required).

That’s all you need.

It's a corner case insurance. If, for whatever reason, you want to have the Organic Weapon out but aren't actually in combat and taking the Attack action, now you can. Intimidation, breaking down a door, opening a can, showing off to impress your date, whatever.

As a Magic action, or as part of an Attack Action before you attack, you can reform your free hand into one of the following organic weapons: Bone Blade, Flesh Maul, or Viscera Launcher.

they aren't going to stop it from being a spellcaster. They just aren't.
You can be a spellcaster without being yet another cookie cutter full caster to add to the five existing ones. If they were going to make the Psion an int based version of an existing caster they could at least have picked warlock the way Laserllama did
 

Compared to the 2e Psionics, this is just a pale imitation. It screams weaksauce! And when I compare the rest of the 2e classes with D&D 5e 2024, they are much more versatile...
2e Psionics of course took up an entire book and spewed 70 pages of class-specific spells all over the system. This has five pages of spells of which only four or five are Psion exclusive. 90% of the benefit off 10% of the page count and 10% of the GM overhead is a big improvement.

And when I compare the 2e classes to their 5e equivalents only the 2e fighter is competitive.

One of my few problems with 2024 beyond breaking emanations was the way it broke the Aberrant Mind Psion by forcing you to keep the tentacle spells
 

I understand. I'm still dedicated to the destruction of Pact Magic. It's bad enough it avoided the axe in 2024, I will make damn sure its cancer doesn't spread to other classes.
And every time I see you continue your quixotic crusade to badwrongfun the single best designed class in the game I'm going to point out that even if we ignore the great thematic hooks the warlock structure is easily the best for reflecting character growth in the entire game.
 

Yup, nope. Because I can make that exact argument for barbarians, rangers, paladins, druids, bards, sorcerers, and warlocks. I like my classes distinct, thank you.

Also Remathilis: The only spellcasting class n the game that is actually mechanically distinct in that it doesn't use the same boring generic spell slot progression as all the rest (although some at half speed) is a "cancer"
