New Race: input wanted

First Post
Here is a custom race that I designed for my homebrew world, not to much meat about setting yet, but this is a start. I would appreciate any advice, to strong/weak, boring, etc.

Tigrana
Buried deep within the northern jungles on the wild continent of Trishana, there lives a mysterious race of creatures. This race, known as Tigrana, is fairly unknown and highly misunderstood. The most common belief is that they are the result of an ancient magical experiment whose creator is long since dead and forgotten. Whatever their origins, their reputation is one of great reverence and respect for their mastery of the forest. The Tigrana’s innate acrobatic skill and fearlessness are well know and highly regarded as equal to none.

Personality
The Tigrana are a proud race and have a deep reverence for the forest from which they live. Although not openly hostile to outsiders entering their villages, they often treat new comers with suspicion, powerfully aware that any disturbance of the delicate balance that supports the jungle could mean then end of their way of life.

Physical Description
Tigrana are cat like people. Their faces are feline in nature, with a very short muzzle and a cleft upper lip. Tigrana have feline ears as well as whiskers. Color can vary from an orange to a dark brown or a pail white to a deep black. Their bodies are also banded with striped pattern, their color can be from light tan to brown or black, and are usually darker than the main coat. Tigrana eyes have a slit pupil and are light reflective. Tigrana also possess a fur covered tale that is very feline in nature. Its length is about 1/3 the Tigrana’s height.
The Tigrana race has a strong dichotomy between the sexes. Males are very large, many over 6 ½ feet tall. Females, short even to human standards, are only 5 to 5 1/2 feet tall. The Tigrana male weigh about 170 to 230lbs. Female Tigrana Only weigh about 90 to 105lbs, and averaging little more then 5 feet tall. Female Tigrana are sometimes mistaken for another, much smaller race.

Society
The Tigrana society is very unique. Tigrana well treated as children, raised by an extended family of parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles. Tigrana children that reach the age of 10, having developed to about the level of a human 14 year old, are expelled from the family group to live on their own. Most juveniles live in single sex groups of 2 to 5 tigrans from 10 to 16, called pods. By age 16, a Tigrana male will select a mate, who they mate for life, and return to the clan camp.
The society is ruled by elders, who hold great respect in the community. An Elder is a Tigrana, both male and female, from 35 to 50, which act as a council to make decisions regarding the village.

Religion
The Tigrana worship Sharlea who they believe created them and is the giver and protector of their ancestral home. The Goddess Sharlea is the goddess of Woodlands, the Hunt, and the patron goddess of the Tigrana race. Only female Tigrana are excepted as Clerics in the service of Sharlea. Often each village will have a single medicine woman or priest that will recount tales of Sharlea’s heroism, mercy, and triumphs, and will place a blessing on new children or members of a war party. Male worshipers are often Rangers or Druids.

Language
Most Tigrana speak at least Tigran and common. A more learned individual tends to speak Elvin, gnomish, and silvan as well, some also speak goblin. Tigran has no alphabet of their own, and are unlikely to have a need for writing, although if necessary they will use the Elvin or human alphabets.

Adventurers
A Tigrana adventure is often an individual that has become curious about the world beyond their won. Many decide leave the jungle after meeting another adventuring party that passed through the jungle looking for treasure or forgotten knowledge with in the ancient ruins of the Trishana.

Classes
If a Tigrana takes a PC class they are often times Rangers, if male, or Clerics, if female. Druids, Fighters and Barbarians are also quite common, Paladins less so. Rogues are less common and at times frowned upon, even though they are very adept at silence, Tigrana disapprove of shadowy dealings that often accompany such persons. Bards are uncommon among the Tigrana, but not unheard of, because of the nature of their class abilities, some clans consider them dangerous, because their music and singing could attract predators. Sorcerers are also quite rare and mistrusted, natural magical ability is uncommon in Tigrana and, therefore, is not believe to be fully normal. Wizards and Monks are all but nonexistent. The vast monasteries and magical schools needed to develop such skills do not exist so deep within the forest, however, it is not inconceivable that a Tigrana could have left the jungle to study these arts elsewhere.

Seems fairly balanced. I personaly dislike the male/female racial differences, especialy favored class, since that is usually a cultural thing, and unless the race is very deeply devided between male and female society, it should be the same (IMHO).

Personaly, I've enjoyed the spin on cat races that are smaller (Like the Frey from Oathbound, or the Katara I am proposing in Living Enworld), but that's more of a flavor thing. The Frey are a bit too powerful (Drop their weird D4 damage extra sneak attack like thing and they're fine though). The Katara I like, but I made them. Looks like they might be aproved soon for the world too.

Yeah, look ok. Thats the only response I can muster. Sorry but I just have a thing about cat races*. If it its any compensation the format and representation look good.

Some tips for a races, these are completely personal, and if it sounds patronising ignore me.

1. Be different, if it breaks some kind of mould, and makes people say 'Hang on, thisis new' then good!

2. Don't pidgeon-hole them. Does every single member do the same thing/act the same way? Maybe they can be reserved, but the presumption that they all live in villages and all have reverence to nature, areall mysterious. They could be misunderstood, they might have a tight, close familiar relationship though.

3. However you cna make them what to read it!

I have been guilty of number 2 SO many time I feel ashamed.

*Talk about kicking a dead cat!

That reads like they only get to cause real damage if they are monks, which would be redundant as monks can already to real damage.

Assuming that was not the intention, then you basically have a more convoluted and less consistent way of giving them natural weapons. Why not just say they have natural weapons?

Everything else looks OK.
