I was going to quote some of Arthur's post but I wasn't sure where to stop and where to start...

I wouldn't ever suggest where to spend your money... aka if you want to buy a wireless modem so you can reach irc in the middle of your college classes do so. It I would rather spend my gaming dollor on a diffrent supplement then this book that shouldn't bug you either...

I realize the book is not a joke and I saw no issues with the quiality of the artwork shown above and I honestly hope this book sale well.

Also Arthur, I don't see the need to question anyone's on Enworld maturity but if you really want to... I think I'm mature cause I protect your freedoms, and have done so for the last 7 years. I've been in the Persian Gulf while we where lunching weaons of war in anger and I've spent many of nights far from home, and loved ones, patrolling the oceans of the world. I think I'm mature cause I can repect the rights of others, their right to vote, their right to make money, their right to freedom of speech, and more pertaining to whats at hand right now, their right to spend their hard eanred money on what they want to buy. A this moment I'm not seeing that from you...

If you want to defend the book and make a post about why to buy this book do so... If not I would be happy if you whould spare us the lecture.

Thanks,
Adam

So a man is to be held accountable for his wants the same as his actions?

Well, I've wanted to kill someone before, should I be put in prison like a murderer?

He has every right to say that he doesnt want to buy or read the book. he has every right to ignore its existence.
However he crosses the line by slamming the book and those that would enjoy it.

I'm disgusted. Completly.
I'm ashamed to call myself a gamer.
No, not because of the BOEF.

I'm ashamed to call myself a gamer because of the reception you're giving this book.

That's okay. I'm almost ashamed to call myself a gamer because of the fact that the BOEF exists.

After all the insults and comments gamers have had to go through, after all the hardship, getting picked on, being punished, not being alowed to play. After always being singled out as diffrent.

I can honestly say that I've never been picked on, punished, or singled out as different because I'm a gamer. 1982 was a very long time ago.

Gamers, IMO, have always been the most accepting group of people. No matter the race or creed or ethnicity. If you were a good roleplayer everyone saw past all that and there were always friends to be found in other gamers.

Gamers accepting? HUH?!

I think that's a major stretch, because I constantly see gamers acting intolerant towards each other. Gamers attack each other because they adhere to different gaming systems, different styles of play (how many times have you seen "real role-players" acting like they're more mature and elightened than hack n' slashers), and because they buy their books from Amazon instead of their "FLGS."

Gamers hardly qualify as an accepting lot. However, I find it amusing that you are bashing people because they dislike a product and don't see the need for it.

It's been my expirience that the people who vehemently preach tolerance and acceptance are usually the least likely to heed their own words.

Now look at yourselves. You're attacking the BOEF the same way all those "religious moms" and advocacy groups attacked D&D.

That's a bit of an exaggeration, don't you think?

I may find the BOEF distasteful, and if I saw the DM bringing it to a session, I'd probably walk out right then and there. But I'm not calling for people to burn copies of the book, nor am I writing a book called "Mazes and Perverts" about a kid who gets involved with the BOEF in college and loses touch with reality.

How many games have you been in where you got a barmaid pregnant or wanted to get drunk for a night of revelry? How many games have you played where a succubus tried to charm or seduce you? How many games have you played where you had a family or someone you loved to defend?

I think you'd all be lying if you said none. The BOEF provides rules and mechanics for situations that arise from such themes in your games. Its not graphic or disgusting in anyway.

I can honestly say I've never played in a game where a character got a barmaid pregnant. As for succubi using charm on the PCs, the rules for that are covered in the MM. As for having family or loved ones to defend, I fail to see how the BOEF would help a paladin defend the town where his family lives.

How dare you judge this book before you've even picked it up to read it based on a few pictures? How many of you have looked over the previews in detail or honestly thought about how some of the ideas fit into your games?

How many of you are mature enough to handle the material and understand that its not just a big joke or gag or softcore porn game.

I have never been so throuroughly disgusted by my fellow gamers before. Not in the 7 years I've been gaming.

For shame on all of you for judging. For shame for attacking. For shame on becoming that which we all hate and fight against.

I silence myself now out of respect for the granny. Even she could look upon the shelf of her adult grandson or grandaughter and respect the fact that its there.

Would you mind getting down from the cross? The rest of us need the wood.

Seriously, the moral superiority act is getting old.

I'm allowed to dislike it.
I'm allowed to ignore it.
I'm NOT allowed to voice these opinions?

ArthurQ, now you're trying to censor me. You are totally allowed to say that you don't like what I'm saying, that's all I'm doing. But you're saying I shouldn't be allowed to voice my opinion, and that's censorship. Even up here in Canada we get the right to free speech. Telling me I can't express my opinion against the book would be me saying the book should be banned. Can you not see your own hypocrisy?

What line?

If I'm not allowed to "slam" the book, then by what rights can you defend it?

We're both expressing our opinions. The difference is, you're trying to keep me from expressing mine...

edit- and yeah, part of me wishes this book had never been concieved. part of me cant figure out how the hell this is even remotely related to gaming, or adventuring. Part of me wants nothing to do with a group that wants to impregnate barmaids.

I still don't have to like it. =)
Breaks down to sex sales... In everything and in every form.
