New RPG podcast

First Post
Well, I just finished uploading my first podcast at www.dragonslanding.com. Its primary goal is to give out some good advice and ideas to tabletop RPG gamers. This week's podcast covers some reviews of some of the free material available on some of the gaming websites including RPG Now, ideas on using TV shows and movies to help you generate hooks for your campaigns, and an introduction to a poll question on the front page of our website.

For those of you unfamiliar with podcasting, it is a form of audio information and entertainment that is gaining more and more popularity every day. It is similar to a radio show, except that you download podcasts over the web and can listen to them whenever you want on your MP3 player, computer, or other media device. Think of it as radio on demand. There are even a number of programs out there ( iPodder, Itunes, etc.) that can automatically download new episodes as they become available. For more information, check out www.podcastalley.com.

Anyway, I would welcome feedback on this podcast, particularly in the form of anyone who has any ideas for upcoming shows, questions you would like us to take a stab at answering (we aren't The Sage, but we will answer any question. I can't promise accuracy, though...), or simply to let me know whether or not you enjoyed it.

Also, if you are involved in the gaming industry (game designer, author, publisher, etc.) and would like us to interview you on the show, or if you would like us to review any of your products, come by the website and let us know.

The podcast is available from our website.

No, I haven't! Good point. Thanks for the tip.

By the way, I actually included a plug for EN World on the podcast. I've only been an occasional poster here, but I've been frequenting the website since it first got started, and this is, in my opinion, the best place on the web for gaming news and discussion, period. So I had to mention it and I probably will again in the future.

Well, I tried to add a news item a couple of nights ago, but I'm not sure it worked. I have never done it before, so I don't know if it is supposed to work this way, but when I clicked the "submit" button, the post I was making disappeared and didn't reappear anywhere. I don't know if this is because I did something wrong or because it becomes invisible until approved by a moderator.

I sent an email to Morrus last night but I haven't heard back yet. Should I try to submi it again, or should I wait a few more days? If the moderators decide not to approve it, will I get any notice from them telling me it was declined? How does this work?

Enjoyed the show. Email me, please, at my name @ my website (check my location) and we'll talk review materials, prizes for contests, and such like that. You guys done good! ;)

You take care of Mark (Curse that handsome devil!) and I'll make sure your News item gets up for a full cycle with the Wednesday News. :)
Thanks a lot! And rest assured, I have just sent an email to Mark. I believe interviews with game designers and publishers and reviews of their material is a key to the type of content that will draw more listeners.

Again, thanks for your help!

I just wanted to add that I downloaded the program and listened to it on the way to work this afternoon. I have to say, I was a bit skeptical, but it was very interesting and entertaining. I think the show definitely could have benefited from a bit more planning and prep-work, but I understand its the first episode and I'm already looking forward to the next episode.

I do have an idea for a segment that would take advantage of the podcast/audio media: how about a "how do you pronounce _____"? segment? You can find plenty of discussion of the various forms of pronounciation of hard-to-pronounce D&D terms and monsters on these boards for instance. Maybe you guys could put to rest the old drow pronounciation debate ;)

That sounds like fun! I'll make a note of it. Thanks for the input!

We've already got some more good stuff lined up for the show next week. I'll post more about that later, though.

And honestly, I think the main thing I noticed about the podcast is that I said "um" and "er" waaaayyy too much.... call it first time jitters, I guess. My goal for the next podcast is 20% fewer Ums. :)

BTW, just so everyone knows, I'm Chuck on the podcast.

Cool show, heard it this morning on my way to work. Looking forward to subsequent casts and the lower percentage of Ums. ;)
