New Scarred Lands idea thread

I just wanted to pipe in and give a big thank you to the designers of this campaign setting and I hope more books are coming in the next year or two for it, especially some more good hardcovers about the continents. Thanks for a wonderful gaming experience.

I also noticed that, unlike other companies, you guys have not produced a number of adventure modules set in the world. More a curiosity than anything else but why haven't the designers made adventures?

He's Albadian. And by the way, when are you going to update the darned Story Hour? :p

If he's Albadian I'll eat my DM's hat. :p ;) And I promise to update it before the end of the year. Which I know isn't saying much. ;)

Actually there is a set of adventure modules. Just that they aren't highly visible many times. The Serpent Amphora Saga is the first series of adventures set in the Scarred Lands. You can find the free download to the Prelude to "Serpent in the Fold" here: The Serpent Amphora Prelude

The first two parts of the module, Serpent in the Fold and Serpent and the Scepter are available.

As for more HC about the settings, while I'm not designing them or even involved, I do know there will be a Termana HC and one on Asherak (in Hardcover no less!) some time in the coming new year. Also look for the Player's Guides too in 2003. These will offer new ideas for players as well as DMs, starting with the arcane classes, Wizards, Bards, and Sorcerers and working their way through the others slowly. (Player's Guide to Wizards, Bards and Sorcerers is due out in February of 2003. Followed by Player's Guide to Fighters and Barbarians in May 2003) Also in March, Shelzar comes to town! :) A place that my player, NiTennise dearly wants to visit.

one reason there may be few modules published so far for SL is pure economics.

A product for both players and DMs will sell many more copies than a product just for DMs.

Also, I think with D20 around, it may be considered that there are plenty of D20 modules. Unfortunately these modules aren't specific to SL, and don't use their modules.

I wonder if SSS might be interested in letting another organisation publish modules for their setting?

Well that was what I was hoping that Necromancer Games would do. Publish Ravenloft mods for aspiring DMs. :) Course if James and the guys at Fiery Dragon were still interested, I'd let them do work on Scarred Lands mods.

Good thread

I just wanted to let you guys know that I have really been enjoying this thread. I've been kind of following the SL stuff since CCI, and always found it to be interesting reading. The more I've read (and the more I follow your musings), the more I want to try running a campaign there.
