New Scarred Lands idea thread

Well, I can't say I'm wise or anything. I actually run only a small part of the SL stuff I have. I'd love for another player friendly city to come out and in the meanwhile, am using this and that to spread things out a little.

Right now the players have been exiled from Mithril. Their commander, Draxis, has gone to hunt down a necromancer who hails not from Hollowfaust or their rival city, but from the Secret College of Necromancy on Freeport.

Now the party members are some of the more experienced soldiers, but not a leader among them. Enter Bliss, my version of the Lady, a being who fought in the Divine War on the side of the Gods but has been missing for over 50 years. Some say she wandered the Nexus, others a strange city that few know of. In any case, she is quite but determined to restore the Northern Proctorate and perhaps bring some new beings to a new level of power. (i.e. I'm going to use her ala the Lady's Taken ability for the Epic levels. The catch is, and she's already told the party, that she's more interested in who has the power than where they stand since she's going to be their boss anyway.)

Of course this doesnt' take into account one of the missing party members who went rogue at the last second and joined the Necromancer from the Secret College, nor the things taht keep destroying adventurers that try to look past the mindless aggression of the Green Tide (or Horde).

green horde

my characters have already encountered the leading edge of this in Darakeene. there have been an increasing number of ambushes along the eastern frontier by the green races (including Ogres)

Deals . . .

*smirks* Perhaps. But they'd probably wouldn't be human as they are crunchy and taste good with ketup. ;)

I could see a deal being reached by a powerfull mage (or group of mages and or Sorcerers) especially if the dragon Islands sat on a rich oyster bed, rich in say rare black pearls of great value (1000-5000 gold piece value). what dragon wouldnt want a portion of that in gold going into its hoard. everything is negotiateable.

Mmm perhaps San. I just don't see dragons as approachable in some ways as they would be in other settings.

Joe, that's cool but I still think you've had some interesting ideas/thoughts about how to work stuff from other places (such as Book of the Righteous, the Merc stuff and of course Swashbuckling adventures off Mithril.) Even so I don't know who the other shepards might be. I can only remember there being two! ;)

In many ways, my players don't know what I'm using after I file off the serial numbers and make the SL setting more cohesive. Throwing NPCs that didn't exist before into the history is easy when you don't have dozens of books out there talking about the past in minute detail. Hell, one of the players wanted to know where they could get stats for Bliss to see how she compares to the Epic level characters. Told him that he'd have to wait a while... ;)

Many of the things haven't even been put into play yet. While I have variants and equivalents for many of the BoTR gods, none of the players are really into that aspect of the campaign. They get more use out of the mercs and goods there. I've been using Soldiers from Soverign Stone, Legionares from Mercenaries, and Phalanx from Librum Equitis to showcase how 'normal' soldiers and mercenaries act as opposed to the players.

Of course I've used some stuff from the Duty book of Paladins by Chainmail Bikkini games. They've run into Pale a couple of times, who in my world, hails from Calista, sorta a wandering champion. He's been buying Green Steel from a certain organization of monks that has their own guild detailed in that GR book, Arcana, Socieities of Magic.

Joe, well while I don't pull from every source, I do pull from more than just core and SL stuff. (It's different San when I'm not actively playing and just typing stuff for you! ;) ) So far I've managed to use: MotP, BoVD, plan on using a varient of Oath feats in my game, Tome of Horrors, and probably a few from Legions of Hell later on, and a few weapon/armor qualities from Forged in Magic and Magic of Faerun. (I admit it! :) )

I plan to pull from all my resources for this module idea

Which one is that? *needs reminding since his head is filled with too much stuff and is also counting his loot...*
