New Spell: DIE ALONE

Also the person effected by the spell could steal food as needed. People would notice the food gone and put two and two together.
In addition they should be able to leave notes and the like as the spell would effect them only them.

If it has a mind-effecting component, why not add a line that the victim subconsciously conceals evidence of his presence. And he probably wouldn't notice food or other items unless they are no longer in someone's possession.

Now *this* is one nice piece of arcana! Love it!

I personaly think that the spell is fine. It has absolutely no combat use, as everyone (including the caster) would cease to notice the target and therefore stop killing him. This is a good thing, btw.

It can be either offensive or defensive.

It is cool.

It fits both high, low, and dark fantasy settings.

The all-round perfect spell.

I like it

I like it. I'm putting it in my homebrew spellbook, with a few tweaks:

Solitude Unto Death
Illusion (Glamer) [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Sor/Wiz 8
Components: V, S, M, X
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Medium (100 ft + 10 ft/level)
Target: One creature
Duration: Permanent
Saving Throw: Will partial
Spell Resistance: Yes

The caster dooms a victim to solitude, erecting a barrier of perception between the creature and the rest of the universe. The target can no longer see, smell, hear, or sense in any way at all any other creature, living or not, and all other creatures have the same inabilty to sense it. The barrier is greater than mere Invisibility; Spot, Listen, Scent, etc are all useless. The target cannot intentionally contact other creatures by any means or leave evidence of its presence, such as signs or notes. Furthermore, the target will unconsciously avoid touching or stepping on other creatures. However, the target could unintentionally leave signs of its presence such as footprints.

In effect, the target is eternally separated from all contact with other creatures, doomed to wander alone until they are saved by their allies, are killed, or die of starvation.

This spell is exceptionally difficult to circumvent. The target gains a spell resistance equal to 10 + caster level versus divination spells to discern its presence or location only, even against spells such as True Seeing, which don't technically affect the target. Divination spells that give information about the target other than its location work normally. A Wish or Miracle spell will immediately undo the effects of this spell, and the effect is nullified if the creature enters an antimagic field, but otherwise it is necessary to laboriously determine the creature's location and use an area dispelling to remove the effect.

If a creature makes its save, the effect persist for only one round per level and only works to prevent the target from perceiving other creatures- others are aware of the target as normal.

Material Components: A two-sided mirror worth 500 GP, which is crushed in the casters fist.
XP Cost: 500 XP

Another word of praise - this is great. Creepy as anything, and really not all that worse than a permanent maze.

Well done!

So, what happens if the affected victim wanders into the range of a fireball? I assume that they still take damage, but can't see where the spell originated. Is this correct?

That's correct, Piratecat. They take damage but don't see where the spell came from, only that it went off.

I'm so pleased that you like the spell! It's very fulfilling for me. It was inspired by the Gorillaz song M1A1.

One of the first TRULY original spells I've seen in a LONG TIME.

If I were you, I'd package it together with some similar minded spells and submit it to Dragon or some other such publication.
