New "Stargate" series announced

I'm caustiously opptomistic, I remember Martin Gero starting off as writing a few episodes of Atlantis and growing into an exectutive producer. So that fact that he seems to be leading the new show, I'm willing to give it a shot.

When SGU had the episode were someone got pregnant and I immediately had a flashback of SG1 200 episode where they had that same scene in a mocking way for how silly it was..,I never recovered.

Its other big issue was lack of a real villain. BSG had the cyclons chasing as the ever present threat (not to mention the ones in their midst!. But SGU had no true villain say the internal politics and that’s just not as interesting

See, I didnt think it needed a villain. Really it needed situation of the week. The separatist group was a great example of the kind of tension they could introduce. The maneuvering of Dr. Rush and Eli was interesting. I think all the ship is alive and spiritual fate type stuff really lost the plot. I think the writers had no long term plan and it hurt the show quite a bit. For example, using the A.I. replicators as a bad guy was some of the worst parts of the show.

"Get Ready. We're heading through the gate one more time. Chevron 8 is locked." -Joseph Mallozzi

The 8th chevron is used to dial outside of a galaxy. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the show takes place in another galaxy similar to SG:A being in the Pegasus galaxy.

And then the rest of episode 1 happened. ;)

I could only get through a handful of shows before I gave up on it and stopped watching.
Within a segment of the fandom there's this kayfabe idea that all of it is real, just fictionalized. So the characters in the shows are composites of different people, but due to the unique situation in Universe, the characters are based on single individuals and that is why they are so unlikable.
