New to D&D need help

Talborn

First Post
Just last week a few of my family members and i Decided we wanted to try to start playing D&D so we went out and bought a DM guidebook/ Monster Manuel/ And 3 Players handbook. Ive read pretty much the whole thing and still I'm having issues grasping the concepts of the game from stats to combat. I was hopping that i could meet someone here that has the time to video chat or exchange mail and answer some of my questions. We need help from both player stand point and DM. So experience in both would be awesome. It has taken us 3 nights to do charter builds. Thanks for the help!

Buy a Monster Vault, and put the Monster Manual I someplace you won't be tempted to use it. The MV is that good... and the MM is that bad.

Sadly, I have to agree.

Before you custom build monsters, find the errata; the DMG info lends itself to some poor results.

Post any specific questions here and I'll be happy to help as best I can.

EDIT: Also, the Monster Project linked in my sig has a ton of monster resources for you for 4e. The two "Monsters for Ruben" pdfs in the first post have everything collected.

People here are very good about answering specific questions. We've had threads here where people post lists of 20 or more questions in a single post, and had the answers within an hour. (takes time to type sometimes)
So post away. We'll get you answers, and hopefully take away some of the mystery.
