I thought maybe this was going to be a thread about getting mad and throwing your dice across the room. I was hoping to read some juicy stories

Try posting in your sig that you are looking to join a group. Post over at the WotC website also. I've had the most success from posting on the WotC site for players.

I was hoping to read some juicy stories

I was introducing my little brother (he was 14 at the time) to 4e (he had played 3.5 a number of times already) in a game with some friends of mine (who had either never met him, or met him one other time). He was rolling terribly, and at one point stood up and threw his d20 at the ground (tile floor) - it bounced off the floor, off a nearby wall, then the ceiling before flying off into the living room.

Everyone was silent.

I said, "Dude... chill..."

He smiled and said, "Sorry" hehe.

Another time, a friend of mine (long ago, playing 2e) leaned back in his chair and hit his head against a light switch at which point he threw his d20 bouncing it off the table, barely missing me, hitting a wall and flying off somewhere else. We were laughing the whole time (even with the dice flying) because his head hitting the switched turned off the light...

...we were pretty wired at that point, so laughs were coming very easily, hehe.

<edit>

One more, though it doesn't involve throwing them necissarily.

ANother brother of mine was on a bad streak during a 4e game, and he suddenly scopped up all his dice and walked out of the room. When he came back he said "Can I borrow some dice?" We asked, "what happened to yours?" "I threw them away".

At that, my little brother (the one from above) runs out of the room, only to return with the dice in his hands now. We asked, "did you really dig those out of the garbage?" to which he answered, "if he doesn't want em, I'll take em" hehe.

Dice have souls. I do believe that some are quite evil or have evil streaks. For this very reason I have a huge dice bag with hundreds of dice. If they don't behave themselves, I place them in "time-out" and pull some different dice out. It seems to work for me...

I had a guy in my game rolling very badly all night. At one point he rolled a 1. He rolled it again out of anger, a 1. Then he threw it across the room. It bounced around and then rolled to a stop on the floor, at a 1.

I picked it up and said, "We'll I'll just use it against you." Which seemed to make him feel better, I rolled it for the next attack against him, a 20.

Experience notwithstanding, the best way (in my opinion) to play D&D is with in-person friends. So I would suggest that, in addition to searching for online D&D games to get into, you trick some of your friends into playing and you can all learn how to D&D together.

A friend of mine was telling me about how his DM was throwing 17-20 all night and another player in the group was throwing 1-5 all night, and had the same color dice. When the DM got up to go to the bathroom the player switched out dice with the DM and then the DM started throwing 1-5 and the player started rolling 17-20s the rest of the night and they didn't tell the DM until weeks later what had happened.

They have a soul... I'm telling you.

That's too awesome ;)

Haha, it seems like they do often times.

I tend to just keep rolling the same dice, regardless of how bad it goes. If I am prompted enough to "just switch your dice already!" I will for their amusement, but even if I rolled a lot of 1's in a row, I'm banking on the dice making it up to me on the next roll... ok, maybe the next one... ok, maybe the next one... (on and on) :p
