I had two playtest monks in last nights game and even they said it is overpowered
Overturning is something SotC usually does for UA when they want to float a new concept: easier to reign it in with the hard numbers of the internal playtest.

On the gripping hand though, we've heard claims monks are overpowered before that were utterly wrong, both in 3e and 5.
Oh man, who remembers Monkday? That wonderful day of the week when someone would start a thread about how powerful Monks were, with all their bespoke special powers and fast movement? "They make so many attacks! They Stun everything! They're even resistant to spells! How did this class make it out of playtest!"

"In my game, the Monk is the most powerful character and I can't do anything about them!"

"I can make a Monk more powerful than CoDzilla or Pun Pun! I just need to be able to purchase Permancied magic buffs and partially charged Wands!"

I remember when the standard monk fix proposal was to just give them an amulet that let them polymorph into a tiger. Pounce and a bunch of free stats just about brought them into parity with a fighter, or 1/8th of a druid.

Tiger Monk, Tiger Monk, does whatever a Tiger Monk can...

It's not an unheard of idea, we had Bear Warriors and Weretouched Masters. And it does solve some of the Monk's issues back in the day, such as the need for higher average ability scores than other classes, some natural armor, and a way to combine their high speed with their ability to make multiple attacks.

I mean, since Druids were always swiping Monk's Belts, it only makes sense a Monk would want something of the Druid's in exchange, lol.
