New Vader Costume for Episode III?

I have been somewhat critical of the prequels, but I don't see a difference in the Vader suit to be a major issue... unless it looks lame. I think it makes sense that the suit would undergo some revision over time, just as the clone outfits are eventually revised into stormtrooper outfits. As the empire grows larger, becomes wealthier, and gains influence, I think it makes sense that they would want their most powerful warrior's outfit to change to suit the times. My expectation is that the "new" suit will be less bulky, sleeker, and built for the purpose of allowing Vader to fight without being too much of a target. It may not suggest awesome power in the same way that the old one did, and it may lack that touch of elegance that was present in IV - VI.

I hope the "new suit" looks mostly the same. Vader is iconic. He wouldn't be the same with a different clothing style.

Tempest in a teacup, for a very simple reason...

Episode III will occur, in all probability, at about the time that Luke and Leia are born, right? That means there's something on the order of a couple of decades between Episode III and Episode IV.

Someone's going to gripe that the guy shouldn't be allowed to change his clothing style over the course of 20 years!?!

But he's not allowed at all! Vader is EEEEVIL and everyone knows that EEEEVIL people never ever ever change their clothes. Look at the Emperor! Don't you think those robes need a wash after all those years? ;)

My feeling is that the only thing they have to have is the Voice. Vader can't be Vader without the Voice. I don't know how they engineer the switch from Hayden Christensen to James Earl Jones, but it has to happen.

He... develops an asthma problem and the gas he inhales makes his vocal cords looser?

Considering the usual reaction to the prequels, I'm betting that if Vader's clothing is changed (which I hope it is), you hear a sound like thousands of voices crying out in an instant...and unfortunately not stopping :)

The mask was Vader's Voice anyway, IIRC when he's got the mask off in 6, his voice is totally different.

I think that's a good example, because I loved the Protostorm trooper outfits.

The suit needs to have Vader's look, but it doesn't have to be identical.
