... Wow, I want to play a Half-Orc Ranger or Urban Ranger or Rogue or whatever he is...

And go to this tavern.

Well, the two weapons mark him as a ranger. The lack of armor marks him as...a character for another game (notice Klaus' version is a decked out a bit more pragmatically).

Had some trouble distinguishing the crocodile but aside from that I found them easy enough to look at. Some of them are dark but thats the atmosphere of the picture. As for a black blot with a few spots of dark colours, try finding some abstract contempary art, theres some pieces that should show you the real meaning of "art or burnt toast?"
they are pictures, you may not like them sure, but they are pictures.

Speaking of WotC's pictures, I like them, but I would like them better if I didn't had to crank up my monitor's gamma (brightness is already at max) just to be able to see that there's actually something displayed on the picture.

It's also a problem because the images are sooooo tiny, they're barely larger than the thumbnail. WotC_Mark, please, bigger images next time!

Well, not necessarily. He could be a Rogue with martial weapon proficiency, or a Fighter with a backup weapon. Or he could be a multiclass combination of any of those three classes.

Yeah, this I concur with, I would like the images to be bigger and thrown into a ZIP or RAR :D then I can print out a large colour print of it at work and hand it out to players/dms

Handouts are fun, they can portray more than words on a less than verbose evening. And its something to keep hold of.

What about an Ascetic Hunter (monk/ranger multiclass)?
