New Years Eve Extravaganza

Bunch of us D&D people is gathering for a marathon game for New Years eve. We're going to try to play 4E, with our characters going from level 1-30 in a single session. Basically, its going to be alternating skill challenges and tough battles(party's level+3), and the party will be gaining two levels after every battle.

Its going to be interesting to say the least...

That's pretty hardcore. Let me guess, either none of you have significant others, or they also play?

I will be looking forward to hearing how it goes. Although 1-30 sounds really really difficult, depending on how long you plan to play. Strike that, it sounds hard within any amount of time that is realistic to expect people to be able to stay awake.

Correct on the significant others.

Our current plan is about 14 hours of game, though we could go longer depending on stamina. Not really sure we'll get through it. Battles will be boss battles(party's level+3), but everyone will be able to go nova since we rest and level up after each one. It will be for a party of six players, which does matter.

I've tried several times over the years to game on New Years eve, or on other holidays, like Independence Day, but it just never works out. Not a bad thing I guess since we end up celebrating in the usual fashion, beer, food, etc.

More power to you if you pulled it off!

I tried tonight. I came up with a one-shot plot and peiced a good little story line together. In between our 3.X player (Never played or even read 4E) interupting our game and saying 4e is like buttsex and referring to myself as a homosexual pimp of some sort, and my players generaly doing whatever they could to wreck the plot (Ie. "The mayor summons you to speak with him" "We kill the mayor's guards and the mayor... and those innosent kids over there too") I called it quits, I just couldn't do it.

New years is a frustrating time.

This year's resolution:
Publishing products professionally

We don't really drink, so alcohol never got involved in things. That being said, we got burned out after about 7 straight hours of gaming(got to level 11), and just hung out until 8am the next morning.
