New Years Resolution Thread

Hmm here’s mine.

1) Get down to 75kgs and stay there. My weight over the last 4 years has fluctuated between 75 & 85 kgs. I’d like to get down to 75kgs for a good long while, heck even go under down towards 70 if I can. But more than actually losing weight I want to start building up some decent muscles. Of course my intense dislike of gyms puts a dent in this – the Martial Arts training does help though.

2) Be a better boy-friend: I’m not a bad guy or anything but over the past few years I’ve noticed that my partner at I have been taking each-other for granted a bit. Admittedly we’ve been together for 7 years now and helped each-other through post-grad, beating cancer, moving across the globe together etc. I love her madly, so the least I can do is try to show that in the little surprises and things that people do for the ones they love.

I made two:

1) Quit Smoking. I had my last cig New Years Eve at 9:30, and I'm on the patch now, so I'm about 17 hours in. I've gone longer and fallen off the wagon before, but never went so far as to use a method (I usually do cold turkey, see how well that worked :) )

2) Game more! We play about once a month if we are lucky. I want to game at least every other week, possibly more. This probably means I'll be running more games, since for the most part that is the only way I get to play more :)

3) I was going to make a resolution not to procrastinate so much, but I think I'll just hold off on that one until 2008.

That's about it. Keep it short, keep it simple.

Just to have one thread for everyone who wants to post their resolutions. I'll start out with mine:

Continue to work out: at the start of 2006 I was 185lbs, but I've been working out 6 days a week, and I'm now down to 173 and getting pretty toned when I look in the mirror. I'm actually in shape, which is really damn cool. I'd like to go up to running 2 miles a day by my birthday (at 1.5 now), and continue hitting the weights most days of the week.

Shemeska, while working out is still better than not working out, you may find that you get better results if you don't do weights every day. Every second day is better as it gives your muscles time to recover and reknit themselves. This will help increase your muscle mass.

Of course I'm far from an expert on the subject but that it what I have read in multiple places on the subject.

As for resolutions, I'm not really one for them myself. Why is New Year the time for them? Do people think that because it is a new year it is like starting afresh? That would be my guess.

Personally I don't think that you should wait until a new year rolls around to start doing something. Why not do it straight away?
