[News] AEG to spin off Sypcraft

Personally, I'd rather see a Powered by Spycraft treatment of sci-fi before the Fantasycraft stuff.

*tightens his tinfoil hat*

In terms of favored genre, Patrick has always been the espionage guy. I adore sci-fi :).

I'm thinking it would work well for Thief-style games.

I have a friend who has been a huge Thief fan for years, and pestered me to put together a thief mod for SC1.0 a while ago. An updated version would make a pretty brief .pdf honestly.

*tosses idea on pile of things to do*

Thief is everything I think a fantasy spy game should be - light magic but definate supernatural elements, shadowy Machievellian politics, gadgety "magic" items, and so on. Plus Garret is the reason I play a rogue nearly every time we play DnD. :D

Can anyone recommend one good review in which the specifics of Spycraft 2.0 are discussed? Primarily I would like to know about the differences between Spycraft and Modern/d20. At $50, it's not in the range of "I'll pick it up and find out later on."

Thanks.

Sure thing. First off, it's $40 - even at 500 full color pages, that's pretty cheap :) All crunch.

The differences are substantial - in fact, they are two significantly different games. Reviews can be found here and here.

Hope that helps :)

Id like to wish Patrick and company much success with this game.

I don't think they'll NEED any luck, the game is that good, but I offer my best wishes anyway :)

Thank you, Charles!

I got Legendsof the Samurai, BTW. I have spent year studying Fuedal Japanese culture, and I found your take very enjoyable. The Kuge calass, in particular, struck me as a lot of fun to play and a good outgrowth from the historical material. Thumbs up!

Sounds like terrific news to me. I don't work in the office, so the whole thing was a surprise to me, but to be honest, the idea of anyone but Patrick and Scott (and Alex, though I don't believe we've ever met) running Spycraft was almost profane in my eyes. The game belongs with them, and I couldn't be happier to hear about this development.

Congrats guys!

Oh well, no mind tricks. Could you please please please make a fantasy version of SC2.0 that I can give you money for?
:)
