[Nexus] Quick combat overview

yer but a system needs to have a way of showing that damage can be ignored. but it also needs a way to show that the armour is getting chewed up as well.

I suppose a DR to DI (damage ignored) might be the best way, but I need to havea good look at it.

What I've found that is simple and works fairly well is damage = 1/2 DR or less is ignored, anything above that threshold damages the armor.

lol...I had the same conculsion..see is this a good idea or not?

LOL. I just saw your other thread! Great minds think alike, eh? :D

I use this rule in my d20 Future campaign, and I think it works great.

yer... :D

did you allow that for vehicle and personal?

does it easily work?

Did you dump hardness?

I did as I see it as really a waste of time. I think that magical attacks are way different to normal elemental attacks, which are easily handled ad-hoc during the game.

Both personal armor, power armor and vehicles in my game use multiple Armor Ratings (equivalent of DR for all intents and purposes), and ignore damage less than half of the AR.

I think it works quite easily, yes. I've had complaints from my group about using it, and as long as you are proficient in basic math it doesn't add any additional time to combat.

For the most part, I don't use hardness in my d20 Future game. It still comes into play sometimes, but not for anything important...more like for buildings, or barriers that the PCs may hide behind and such, where I'm too lazy just to make up stats for what kind of damage they are resistant to. :D

Oh, and my Future game doesn't use magic, although there are psionics.

yes I do this as well. I just see that DI is required for personal due to its lighter weight and structure compared to a bolted on hardened chassis for a vehicle.

Is that the AC/ DR or DR/ DI?

yer free form GM rules still live in all systems...

yer, I am just building a system for all genres, so magic needs to be lokked at.

Cheers for the feed back

:D If you want to see more of it and comment then please do. It is not up to date right now, I am adjusting it for a HPless game, except for vehicles and such, as can be seen above.
