Nexus Shadowrun

Okay Merchant, Sailor, Noble, Soldier, Villager, and Musketeer.
Basically the Musketeer would be a higher level soldier? Were they noble?
What do you mean by artisan?
I could do a separate naval officer archetype as well.

Actually, thinking about it more I think the musketeer can be used to cover the whole regular army range of tasks, including cavalry.

How about archers, or artillery operators (cannons or ship cannons)?

What do you mean by artisan?
I meant that the Villager could be used to represent any of the normal workers, like potter, cooper, smith, mason, tailor, carpenter, tanner, etc.

I could do a separate naval officer archetype as well.
Yeah, that could be useful. A "nobleman of the seas". :p

So I need some basic cyberpunk archetypes.
And I want to do something different then a plain hacker as well.
Any ideas?
How about something like this:

White Hat/Sneaker. Security expert. Specializes in blocking access, securing access points (like laptops and terminals) and networks, tracking and monitoring (data control).

Black Hat/Hacker. Intrusion expert. Specializes in gaining access, covert access, network takeovers and intelligence aqcuisition (data cloning), social engineering.

Grey Hat/Cracker. A compromise between the two. Often a freelancer. Specializes in research (data mining), knowledge of system vulnerabilities and backdoors, hardware access (biometric scanners, taking control of monitoring systems).

Cyberwarrior. Military training in cyber warfare. Specializes in virus bombs, brunt force software attacks, botnets, fast intelligence aqcuisition (at the price of covert action), wireless hacking, and redundancy (data backup).

And then have them overlap on some areas.

Likewise interested and following your work/ideas.

Unsure there -IS- a difference between White/Black/Grey Hackers from a game-mechanics pov as its mostly a question of user-ethics and whose side of the data fence they're sitting. IMO the difference really is between whether the N/PC were trained/specialized for Civilian or Military systems; with some sort of corresponding bonus when dealing with those type of systems.

Yeah I think that those are probably more personality then actual game mechanic differences.
So far what I am thinking is these three:

Overwatch/Rigger - You monitor security for an area that changes from time to time as well as monitoring teammates during a B&E. You can also cover sniper functions using armed drones. You would need to be nearby to prevent security filters on networks from blocking your drone control.

Oracle - Information mining/manipulation. You monitor the big picture and deal with things at a great distance.

Intruder - You are a B&E expert using your hacking skills to override onsite security.

Oh, I fully agree. The terms overlap in the real world and people use them in conflicting ways. Just the word hacker alone has so many different interpretations it's crazy.

I was wondering if anyone would try testing it for me and see what else is needed or if anyone had any more ideas.
Bad news on the testing, I'm afraid. Our group of twelve years seems to be falling apart, for various real life issues. One couple and their teenager have been planning a move to Sweden for some time now which is now set to stone, I've been getting increasingly swamped at work what with doing advanced studies at the same time, the rest are equally busy, and right now all our gaming plans together are on indefinite hold. :(
