NG vs. N: Neutral Good Victorious!

The dragon has 8 ranks in Knowledge (architecture) and Spellcraft, 12 ranks in Intimidate, and 20 ranks in Knowledge (nature, the planes), Listen, Search, and Spot.

It has the feats Improved Natural Attack (bite), Improved Sunder, Lightning Reflexes, Power Attack, Weapon Focus (claw), and Wingover.

Tralnorax, Thorn of Heryald and Defender of the Mabi, enters the arena at the northernmost corner and heads south, gaining altitude and slowly curving outward. His long neck cranes out to look over the hydra as he invokes something in Draconic.

(Enter to 110N0E, flying south to 55N5E35Z, SLA Aid)

OOC:
* Does the K(nature) tell him anything about the hydra?
* How high does Tralnorax estimate the hydra to be at the shoulder, and at full neck extension. (i.e. what is its height and reach, if observable. Once we get to the larger sizes, the range by the book is multiple cubes of space in variation)

OOC: Knowledge (nature) is useless, except to determine that the hydra is reptilian.
The hydra appears to be about ten feet high at the shoulder (up to the top of 5Z). It probably has a ten-foot reach.

Round 540: The lizard moves to 55N60E.

Tralnorax wheels and overflies the hydra, breathing a cloud of fear gas down upon it, along with a mighty trumpet that has driven opponents of the past running in fear.

(MEA to 60N65E45Z, Breath Weapon: Fear Gas)

(So, let's see if we can get that double-Will Save win from Frightful Presence and the Fear Gas (i.e. the stacking rule mentioned))

Upon Tralnorax's approach, the lizard starts shaking in fear (16 Will save). Tralnorax can breathe again in round 544.

Round 541

The lizard flees the arena! (17 Will save). :D

A large grasshopper with a pair of three-foot long horns jutting from its head hops into the arena to 60N80E and fires one of its horns at Tralnorax, but its horn bounces off Tralnorax's scales (rolled 23). The horn appears to be attached to the grasshopper with a 500-test line.

Tralnorax recognizes the grasshopper as a bonespear. He knows its vermin traits (including immunity to mind-affecting effects, and that it is resistant (not immune) to sonic attacks.

OOC: Minor question - does that mean that the bonespur now only has one horn, or did the fired one reel back in immediately?

Tralnorax cruises overhead to the NE corner, does a Wingover and returns heading SW.

(Double MEA from 60N65E45Z overhead to 100N100E or so, wingover, end at 30N30E heading SW)

(Somewhat handwaved since I have 300" of move to work with)

(For possible time compress: Tralnorax is going to confidently hold out for a breath recharge, assuming he can pierce what he remembers of the things sonic resistance with his mighty blast. If the second bone-harpoon hits, then of course he'll have to change plan. If the first harpoon is pulled back, he have to change plans too.)

Round 542

The bonespur scuttles to 60N40E and fires its other horn, piercing Tralnorax (rolled 29) for 12-10=2 points of damage, but Tralnorax resists the poison (rolled 30 Fort save). The barbed horn is embedded in Tralnorax, with the line trailing back to the bonespur. The bonespur digs its feet into the ground.

Tralnorax is next in round 542, and has 178 HP remaining. (I did not add the HP from aid until now.)
