Or indeed a charismatic ranger-cleric. A little bit of cleric for divine assistance and then the opportunity to lay down the maximum amount of damage on those pesky infidels!

This is a character class and such, might be able to get you where you want to be with multiclassing between it and paladin. Not sure though.
