Nightfall's Not so Incredible Journey

Yikes. Good to hear that you got out of that okay.

I had a similar experience a few years ago. Driving in a massive snowstorm is a bad idea if you don't like going 45 mph sideways. Although, I was able to drive out of the ditch.

Away,

I wish it had been snow. If nothing else, less chance of me driving so darn fast, and probably could have saved more of my stuff.

Well... if your car does three rolls and all that gets destroyed are it and three fantasy novels I do not rate very highly, you are pretty lucky.

Okay, sucks about the car, but at least you're alive, and a good thing that is, too.

Ni,

Thanks. Yes it sucks about the car, the fine and everything, but a) I'm alive. b) I'm in school. c) I still have internet access. :)

And it's good I'm alive. Cause now I can talk smack all the way about the Scarred Lands! ;)

count your blessings - you're still alive and kicking. :) just remember your close call the next time you're in the need for speed. ;)

Good to hear you're okay, Nightfall. I mourn the loss of your car and four of the best books ever to be penned, but your health is much more important, right?

On a lighter note,I read the title and thought, "Wow, Nightfall finally made it to the Scarred Lands!" ;)

Please tell me you were insured.
Tree,

It wasn't my car, but yes it was insured. However I still have a) a fine to pay and b) no car to get around this burg/ton. (Huntington).

Btw in case the question ever gets asked about why I didn't leave earlier, a) the dorms here didn't open until Sunday at 9 am. and b) I admit to being lazy and also again miscommunications all around.

Boz,

Yeah well understand though 70 is the state speed limit so I might get that hankering for speed. Just probably not in the rain.

Aggy,

LOL! :) I wish I had made to the Scarred Lands. Saved me some headaches in real life. :p ;)

And yes my health is more important. Fortunately though, my other set of hardbacks, books 1, 2 and 3 of the Prince of Nothing series, were not even scratched! :) So I still have those to enjoy.

Had something similiar happen to me earlier this year in January. I skidded on black ice - it was 11:30 pm or so. I wound up swerving across first the right lane and then the left before going off the road into a ditch and literally launching through the air about 20 feet distance before landing.

Fortunately my maw and paw weren't hurt - just real shaken up. Mom hit her head on the ceiling of the car. My neck got a crik in it when the car landed and my head was thrown back into the head rest. Dad was fine - although the seat he was in broke off of the "runners". He was the most scared by the whole thing though, curiously.

I now officially know that all that stunt nonsense in the movies is just that - nonsense. Cars just don't survive such a "launch" that well, let alone the poor driver/passengers. ;)

Anyway ... I am glad to hear you are okay.

Good to hear. Painful fines and no car sucks, but still far from as ugly as it could have been. You were very fortunate. I'm glad for that.
