Ninja question - Ghost step

You can stay invisible, but will blink visible shortly in the time of the beginning of your turn and the use of the swift action to turn invisible again.

On the Ninja's turn, he Ghost Steps and is now invis. He moves into position and attacks (while remaining invis). On the opponent's turn, the Ninja is still invis so they will have a hard time hitting him. Ghost Step (Invis) wears off when the Ninja's turn comes back around.

Well, it sounds like most folks came to this opinion on their own analysis of Ghost Step (Invisible), but I am here to tell you definitively from actual play experience: it is not overpowered. It is a nifty, flavorful ability, no doubt about it- but all things being equal, if you want to do more sneaky damage, you are better off with a flanking Rogue.

Still, I dig me's lil' ninja PC. He be cool.

I still don't think the Ninja is all that great personally. And it is mainly due to Sudden Strike being so limited compared to normal Sneak Attacks. Ok great, you can turn invisible a couple times per day. When all those Ghost Steps are used up, then what? They stand in the back and watch the party take on the rest of the encounters? I equate this to a Wizard who runs out of spells for the day. There isn't much they can do once it is all used up. The class is fun when you have attempts left, and boring when you don't. Personally, I prefer to play a class that is fun all the time, not just half the time...

RigaMortus: Yes, that's what I was saying as well. You stay invisible until your next action.

I have a 6th level Ninja who gets 7 uses of Ki Power per day, which isn't too bad. Plus, it goes up by one every other level. It certainly is more than a couple of times per day as you advance. It hasn't been overpowering in our game. In fact, it's saved his bacon a couple of times already by being able to retreat from a stand-up fight.

I also think a Ninja is a good solo class, since it's stealthy and gets to use cool abilities without anyone else's help (unlike sneak attack).
