Ninja Scroll question (yes in the rules forum!)

How would you treat -rule-wise- the string on the scabbard of the main character (I forgot his name ) in ninja scroll?

For "free" ? I mean, no feats or anything like it? Or a dex check to catch it. And or a strength check to yank it strongly enough?

IIRC, it's Jubei, and you could require a Reflex save, but i'd keep the DC number fairly low, and only require a Str check if the the sword and scabbard were stuck under or behind something else

the string would have to be made of some pretty strong stuff to be able to support the weight of two adults - something magically enhanced, or an adamantine chain...(?)

that's a tough one, IMO. it wouldn't necessarily be cost-prohibitive because of the materials, but because you need an uber/mega/ultra D) master craftsperson to create the links small enough that it couldn't be seen easily (it does kind of look like a silvery thread...)

it may be easier to create by taking a normal sized chain and having it permanently reduced via shrink item.

actually, i was thinking a few thousand

to cast shrink item via permanency costs 1500 exp, and i'm not sure what the cost of that (in gold) would be...

an adamantine chain might be less expensive, but i'm not sure how to price it.

maybe someone else might have a better idea?
