Niobe's Dilemma (Manzanita Judging)

Wil looks at the weapon but passes it over.

"I cannot wield that properly"

He joins Jaan in his assault, however, charging if possible.

Redux Round 1 Cont.
Lasair yells for surrender.

Redux Round 2
Wilhelm charges the other horseman, but misses badly.

Jaan sheeths his dagger, runs after the horse, and mounts it with ease.

Troi...

[sblock=ooc] Couldn't pull up a saved roll (said there weren't any). I usualy prefer to roll offline myself when I GM, but if you use IC in advance, in most cases that's fine. I like the semelessness of not having a lot of rolls out there, particularly for spot/listen/sense motive checks :)[/sblock]

HP: 22/32

Troi looks to his companions. "I kin take this one, y'all go get th' archers!""

He then attacks the horseman with his shortsword, takes a quick step back, then attacks him with his whip.

[sblock=OoC]Attack with shortsword (+7, 1d6+1), 5 ft step back, attack with whip (+7, 1d4+2).[/sblock]

*Lasair glances to see if her friend amongst the bandits is in danger. Meanwhile, she also waits until her allies take down another target before adding:*

"Please just surrender--look, they've just taken two of you and you haven't dropped any of us, despite having the element of surprise on your side initially. Beyond that, we can heal and you cannot. If you keep fighting, you're just going to get hurt or killed. If you stop it, I can try to tend to the dying and save them."

Redux Round 2 Cont.
Troi pokes the horseman hard with his short sword, and then steps back, lashing the man with his whip as well. The man slumps over in his sadle, blood dripping from his forehead.

The archers take some final parting shots, striking Jaan, before they turn their horses around and begin to ride away. Lasair's friend looks at her from a distance, as if he'd like to spur his horse on as well and ride away, but he does not.

End of combat?

OOC: Jaan takes 3 points of damage.

*Lasair shakes her head.*

"Well, I told them. Can you guys catch up to them on the two horses we have?" she asks Jaan and the others, then turns to her friend.

"I'm glad you stayed. As I promised, we only attacked the ones who tried to kill us. How about while they chase down the archers you and I take care of the wounded. Then we can talk about what happened."

(OOC: I'd say no. They shot and didn't miss, so they must have not been going at a full run. Jaan can have his horse run full speed and catch up to them easily. Wil or Troi can mount and do the same next round (because any of them that runs draws an AoO from Jaan at that point)

Troi looks after the escaping horsemen.

Go after them, or no... if the guy turns on Lasair...

Gah! Stay, then. He knows where they're going. He'll tell us...

Troi shakes his head, then turns to the remaining horseman, and walks towards him. "I think it'd be better if ya stayed." He says quietly. He holds his weapons in as non-threatening a manner as possible, though still at the ready.

[sblock=OoC]Get within 5 feet of the horseman. Readied action to hit him with shortsword if he runs off (+9, 1d6+1), and will take an AoO on him as well (+9, 1d6+1).[/sblock]

"Why are you nervous, friend? You don't have to be nervous around me," Lasair gives a winning smile (Diplomacy +16), and moves towards him, "In that case, let's just talk, okay? You did what was right, and that's what counts, so you'll be rewarded for your bravery to stand up for what was right. Now let's sit down here and talk about what you saw, okay?"

(OOC: If he's skittish despite the Diplomacy and doesn't come to talk with her, she'll pop an Attraction to make him Attracted towards "helping save fair ladies who have been kidnapped" before proceeding  )

Jaan Saaresar, male human Servant of the Greenman.

Jaan pulls up his mount and watches the archers ride away. A quick glance at the others makes it clear that they are not going to to give chase. Jaan agrees, they can always follow the tracks. And they have the remaining rider to answer questions.

Jaan wheels around and gathers up the reins of the other horse. He indicates the two fallen riders.

"Do they still live? I have a little healing left if they need to be stabilised."

Jaan remains mounted and keeps an eye on the trees into which the others disappeared. But hge does take a moment to glance over the weapons the fallen riders carried. If there is one he can use, Jaan will take it.

"If we are not going to give chase, perhaps we should withdraw to somewhere more ... comfortable, somewhere we can chat with our new friend." Jaan glances at the last rider.

"Perhaps you could give your horse to the lady," Jaan says to the man. Better that he is dismounted; all the harder to run away.

Sorry about that. I discovered that the saved rolls seem to last only as long as you stay on the page. IC seems to be the only site that records rolls.

I'm happy to let you do the rolling. What about attack/damage rolls? Do you want us to leave those to you as well?

BTW, what weapons do the bandits have?
