Niobe's Dilemma (Manzanita Judging)

Wil agrees, similarly frustrated but not yet ready to give up. The blood of Irontower flows too strongly in him to surrender so quickly. "Sand through our fingers indeed. We must take this into our own hands and lead an inquiry through the pubs and the taverns. Elsewise, we needs rely on the use of magics (through temple or seer) to find another clue"

"We tried a general inquiry earlier with no success. If guards and townspeople have no knowledge of this event, then we have no hump to sustain us through the desert of ignorance...we may need to utilise some choice divinations."

"I had meant that a more thorough inquiry might do us more good. We had only asked around in the canal and near the city's entrance. Perhaps in the inner city area that was mentioned earlier?

But yes. Between the two, a well-worded divination would be more likely to yield information. If there is a temple to Ayratha here, I could perhaps ask them for illumination in this matter. Elsewise, your path instead."

Wil asks about any temples in the city, stopping a knowledgable (and helpful) seeming passerby for aid.

Indeed, there should be a temple on the way into the inner city back towards the mansion if the locals are to be believed about such things.

Wil thanks the person courteously, with all the formal grace of a noble soldier and then leads his companions to this temple, hoping that it is of the Lady of the Gauntlet's own.

It takes some time as you backtrack, but a few hundred feet from where you came out of the woods, the road turns in towards the inner city. Activity picks up fairly quickly, as tavern, inns, shops, and such line the streets. Ahead, you can see one of the gladitorial arenas Earling is famous for, and indeed, there is a temple of Ayratha not too far from it.

Wil walks up to the entrance of the temple, reverence in his stature. He pauses, takes off his helm and enters. He keeps his eyes open to the state of the temple as well as the persons within.

To whomever is in charge of greeting, he introduces himself, offering reverences as appropriate. His tone is formal and courteous, though not pleading nor demanding. "A fair day to you, Brother. I am Wilhelm Irontower, a fellow disciple of the Fire Sister.

These are my comrades in arms: Lasair Alant, Jaan Saaresar and Troi Delmontes. We have come seeking the guidance of the Lady of the Gauntlet, that her torch would light our path in our quest. Will you help us?"

OOG: Knowledge (religion) +5, Diplomacy +4

"Greetings Brother," says the man, "I am Edward, and welcome to our temple. Indeed, you test the fires and look for guidance? We are always glad to help fellow disciples, but allas, we would require a donation of some part as well. The flames only burn so far without fuel you know."

OOC: Basicly, a donation in the ammount that it would cost to have the spell cast (though you can try to negotiate or make a lesser offer, as a memeber of the clergy, they may cut you some slack), and they are more than willing to cast it for you. If you seek other enlightmenment, well, RP on then :)

"When there is nothing left to burn, one must set himself on fire" Wil quotes a cryptic saying amongst the Ayrathans. He nods. "Aye. No flame burns without fuel, Brother Edward.

A divination is what I request of this temple. Would you grant us this with the proper offering?"

OOG: Wil's not going to haggle the price down. He's too proud for that. He only has 154 gp though. Assuming minimum caster level, we're looking at 280 gp plus the 25gp needed for focus.

If need be, Wil would sell his MW crossbow (335/2=167.5 gp) to cover the rest of the cost... unless someone wants to step up to help him out?
