Niobe's Dilemma (Manzanita Judging)

Ogrin scratches his beard while thinking. "I don't know... a thousand gold, you say? To be honest, I'd guess there would be more money in it than that. I apologize if I sound greedy, but we recently were hired by some other adventurers to solve an issue for prince Medius of Monemvassia. We put our lives as much on the line as the others, but in the end, the others were knighted and landed while Razh and I received a much lower reward. All I'm asking for is that anyone who pull their weight in this endeavour receive a fair share of the reward as well. If someone doesn't pull their weight... well, we can discuss that later on, should the issue arise.

Ogrin leans back and rests his hands on top of his head. "If we're to work together, I guess we should be completely honest as well. We have seen a man matching your description. He came in here a few days ago, trying to recruit people for some kind of job. He was interested in hiring us, up until the time we told him of our work for prince Medius."
[SBLOCK=Manzanita]Manzanita, I didn't think to ask this in the M4 thread at the time, but would it be too much to assume that me and Razh were given Letters of Commendation by the prince?[/SBLOCK]
On hearing Lasairs comment on Zaeryl, Ogrin just responds "Ehm, yeah... right" and changes the subject. 'This one' is as weird as Zaeryl. I wonder which one of them really should be locked up, if not both?

"We are almost finished a long investigation here, so we do not necessarily need more help unless this fellow has a lot more allies than we might expect, in which case that would mean more treasure to be taken from the fallen, of course--this is likely, how do you Westerners put it? A 'good deal'? If you would not like to come along and help us right this wrong, that is fine too, and we will be on our way, though we thank you for your mention of our quarry."

'If they were the sort who were almost hired by our enemy and cares so much for coin, I don't know if I even want to risk having them along...and that not withstanding Zaeryl...' Lasair thinks to herself 'I shall have to watch closely how they respond.'

Wil stays at Lasair's side.

If these warriors are from the Red Dragon, then they too are tested by fire, he thinks [/i]Favored by the Lady of the Gauntlet. But that is no guarantee of their alliance with us. I have seen strange and worse folk in the Inn. Nevertheless, if they are truly warriors and our enemy has been forewarned of us, then... we could do well with their presence on the 'field.

And they have the recommendation of a true born Prince! That should say something about their character...[/I]

"I am Wilhelm Irontower, priest of Ayratha.

I say to you sers, a good fight, a good cause and an vile villain. A fine quest. That we grant fair share to those who aid us, does not even need to be said. We cannot be as generous as a Prince, true. But our enemy is no pauper, if you get our meaning.

Razh lets Ogrin do most of the talking, it's the dwarf's experience that when he talks, feelings get hurt and noses get broken. He simply grunts affirmatively at Ogrin's request for more money. At Willhelm's introduction, Razh perks up a bit and says, "A good fight, eh? What exactly are we fightin' 'ere? Humans? Ah'm gettin' sick an' tired o' fightin' monsters and goblins in the dark." He nudges Ogrin with an elbow and adds, "An' me axes are itchin' for 'a good fight'."

Razh takes a swig of his drink before he says, "Oh, come on nah, we're not idiots. Ye don' need two extra, experienced fightin' men t'beat jus' one man, nah d'ye? Surely he's got some lackeys, eh? An', if we're gonna be helpin' ye, which it looks like we might be, ye've got t'give us a bit more information than what ye have s'far, mates! Ah'm speakin' o' the basics, is this a fightin' man, a magic man, 'as he got lots o' men all tied up in this scheme or is 'e actin' alone? Give us some grit, mates, an' we'll do our best t'help ye out."

(OOC: Honestly and in all seriousness, we don't think he has anyone else along or any lackeys, just this one guy--I think he's a sword guy from reading Troi's character sheet, but we don't really know much about him in character. Now, having said that, there's a strong possibility from metagame hints that there are more enemies (because most adventures don't just have the one guy), but we have no clues in character to believe this--the only reason we got this far was by getting a Divination, actually :D

In fact, Lasair is only inviting you guys to join up for the metagame reason that you two are PCs--normally she wouldn't have mentioned it and doesn't think we need more people--as Razh has correctly surmised in his first few sentences, we have zero legitimate in-game reason to hire you. Shall we roll with it a little to get your characters in here? I feel that the only answer I can give to that post would be something like

"There is just one man, as far as we know, and you're right that we shouldn't really need your help for that, but somehow it just seems right to ask you to join us...Do not ask why, for even I don't know myself...something about the flow of the ziivash")

OOC: Duly noted, sir. =D

Razh takes a swig of his drink before he says, "Oh, come on nah, surely he's got some lackeys, eh? Nah tell us, is this a fightin' man, a magic man, do we know anything about 'is wherabouts an' whatnot? Give us some grit, mates, an' we'll do our best t'help ye out."

OOC: to metagame just a bit... it's possable finding him may not end the adventure, hense the need for more people. Not that I'm saying it will be... *whistles inocently*

"I believe Troi has said that he fights with a blade. As to lackeys, we do not know of any lackeys, and indeed, in the only incident we know of, we have witnesses who saw him work alone. We do not know where he is located, unfortunately--this is why we are asking around and found you. We would appreciate help if you could provide it, and if we defeat any additional opponents beyond this man, you will of course receive a full share of all their equipment, as we mentioned earlier. Do you have any idea where to find him?"
