Niobe's Dilemma (Manzanita Judging)

Rasereit Vundinn, Dwarven Barbarian

"The gladiators are a false lead? Blast, Ah was gettin' all excited thinkin' about seein' the arena. Ah well, that'll have t'wait. Ah'm thinkin' we should ask some o' the blokes in 'ere whether they or any o' their friends took our man's offer. An' if not, we kin check out some other taverns and such nearby. Anybody familiar with the area, or are we gonna have t'ask around for which taverns are adventurer hangouts as well?"

[sblock=OOC: ]I think gather information checks for A) Where the man went after tonight. If that fails miserably, B) The location of some local adventurer hangouts. That shouldn't be too hard, then we can ask C) Whether the man was there, and D) Where he went after that. The barkeepers should be willing to assist us for a small fee at the very least. With all of us gathering information, and so many checks, we're bound to come up with something.

Razh's Gather Info check: -1[/sblock]

"Still, someone must come to the inn quite often to check the poster board. Let's post an unrelated note in small lettering, making it hard to read. Anyone who comes in, checks the board and quickly makes his way out is probably our man, or working for him."
[SBLOCK=OOC]Ogrin's Gather Info is a whopping +0.

Not yet convinced the gladiator connection is a red herring, Ogrin also asks around for information on the arena in a general sense - who runs it, are prisoners taking part in the games, who's Mountain and Tiny and so on. Should anyone wonder why, he just says he's new in town and has considered watching and perhaps betting on a fight (which is probably true, too)[/SBLOCK]

Wil likes the thought of an organized plan."I like Razh's plan of action. We should do yours, Ogrin, while we pursue this line of inquiry... akin to setting a line to the water and seeing what bites." opines the Fire Priest.

"Do you think whoever is behind this knows you're on their tail?" Ogrin asks the other four.

A cunning plan...

Ogrin writes the note with a small and beautiful but hard to read lettering. The note says that Mournsoul desperately needs to meet Tina at the usual location the next time the moon is new. He then takes up his place in the tavern mentioned in the ransom note, trying to find a good view of the message board. Should someone question why he's sitting there so long, he'll just say he has an appointment with a friend and pays a few extra coppers to get them to leave him alone. Some time later, another member of the party enters to put up the note, quite low on the message board so that whoever reads it must bend down to do so. Someone (Razh?) should perhaps stay near the inn, in case Ogrin needs backup.

He'll engage the other clients in friendly talk, trying to steer the conversation to the issues detailed above². He suggests Razh and the others continue their inquiries, and that they rejoin them later on - in separate teams. Razh rejoins Ogrin, while the others should take up a different table, pretending not to know the others.

When someone comes in and takes a detailed look on the message board, particularly the new note, Ogrin will take note of their looks. If they leave quite soon after this, he'll follow.
[SBLOCK=OOC]²) ie, Gather Information check as detailed in Razh's and Ogrins earlier posts.

OOC: Ok, now I'm confused, you agreed to Raz's plan, so why is orgrin doing his plan?

Nevermind, I got it, update coming soon.

OOC: I got the impression you're splitting up, and ogrin gets his started, while the others do Razh's plan?

(OOC: Based on Ogrin offering up a Gather Info check and wanting Razh to come with him afterwards, I don't think so. I think the basic idea is to roll another Gather Info, like the last one that failed, and hope for a miracle. Barring that, we go to do Ogrin's thing ;))

OOC: Ok, got it, plotting now :] new post up in the next few hours, work makes it harder to DM than play, but I'll get something up tonight.
