Niobe's Dilemma (Manzanita Judging)

OOC: I'll let you negotiate that in game :) Give me a day or two to get them situated, and you'll be woven into things with them fairly quickly.

[sblock=Ogrin & Rasereit]The job is uneventful, and the pay is so minemal, that after buying a room and supplies, you barely manage to break even, but you do find yourself in Earling, which seems an interesting place to stay for a few days. The news in the town is of the kidnapped wife of Lord Pacian, one Niobe, said to perhaps be the most beautiful woman in the world. The Lord seems to be well liked by most people, as is his father the Baron, and many are genuinely concerned.

You've found yourself staying in the Warrior's Heart inn and tavern, which is not too far from the gladitorial pits, and is indeed a hopping place to be. People talk about the fights, occasionaly gamble, and drink quite often. Seems like a fine place.

Three days ago (You've been here for five), a man with blond hair under a blue bandana, with a black cloak, and a scar on his face was hiring people, but he didn't seem interested in you after talking to you, and was vague about what he wanted.[/sblock]

OOC: More later, sorry.

[sblock=Wil, Lasair, and sleepers]You don't find too much initialy asking around, a few sightings, they never quite match, or are easy to descredit. Eventualy you wind up at the Warrior's Heart tavern and inn.[/sblock]

Wil, Lasair, Troi, and Jaan walk into the Warrior's Heart, and Troi begins asking about their target, a man with Blonde hair and a scar on his face, and likely to be wearing a blue bandana and black clothes.

Ogrin and Rasereit spot them from their table and can easily overhear them asking questions.

OOC: not sure if any of you know eachother from a previous adventure...

(OOC: I think Lasair has seen them briefly at the inn, though they had grouped with Zaeryl in LPNN, so either way she'd look familiar because they have some resemblence. Of course, looks like they've advanced quite a bit more than Zaeryl has since then  )

OOC: Ogrin and Razh have met Jaan in the RDI, other than that I do not think I've interacted with anyone. Jaan was almost going on the same adventure as Razh and Ogrin (M4: Under the Volcano) and they're at least likely to recognize each other.

"Oy there! I may not know much about blondes with bandanas, but I do recognize a friendly face when I see one. You're that Paladin -- Jaan, right? Haven't seen you since Rinaldo and his friends hired me and my buddy here for some work in Monemvassia. What brings you to this part of the world? Ah, your friends look bewildered - I'm Ogrin, and this is Rasereit. You'll not find two more stalwart fighters north of the mountains, fer sure. We came this way guarding a friend, but it was hardly a lucrative effort, ey Razh? We're currently trying to find some decent work that needs doing."

Ogrin offers to buy them all a round of drinks while they chat. After a while he continues, "So what's with this blonde man. You have a score to settle, or what?"

[SBLOCK=Sense motive DC15]You have a feeling Ogrins interest in the man you're asking about goes beyond just friendly chatter. He looks a bit thoughtful as you describe him, and you also notice Razh looking at Ogrin peculiarly.[/SBLOCK]

Ogrins brow furrows. "Help you? Well, if you tell us a bit more what you know, what you need help doing, and perhaps a little something on the gratifications involved, perhaps we can come to an arrangement." Ogrin leans forward to study Lasair's face in the dim light. "By the way, you look somewhat... familiar. Know a fellow named 'Zaeryl'?"

OOC: I've read the thread briefly and will read it again more thoroughly during next week - just let me know if you tell me everything that has happened or if you leave certain things out.

(OOC: She's going to give a one-sentence summary)

"He has taken a hostage and pretended to be an errant brother to cause a political scandal," Lasair replies simply, "We just need to find him."

"The enemies will likely have valuable equipment, as this seems to be the case in general in these lands, so we can furnish you each a share if you help us, and an extra thousand gold, but only if we are successful."

*At the mention of Zaeryl, Lasair gives a strange expression.*

"I do not know someone of that name...but the next time you see him, lock him up somewhere and bring me. The Fates will scream in dire wrath that their prophecy has been annulled, so it could be interesting to watch."
