No damage roll

i've tried in the past introducing a no damage roll.

instead everything is based on your roll to hit.

if you needed say 15. and you roll 15. you do 1 pt. damage
16 - 2 pts
17 - 3 pts
18 - 4 pts
19 - 5 pts
20 - 6 pts max damage

based on weapon type.

so in the above example 18, 19, 20 do 4 pts with a dagger. or with a longsword. the minimum would be 3 pts


and if you roll 1, you miss... but you are so off balance you are open to an attack... your ac is reduced.

would a system like this interest you?

If done so that it was intuitive in calculation, it would speed up combat dramatically. I'd be interested in giving it a whirl!
 



I think the idea is that the better you beat the AC, the more damage you do...overall I like the idea. May need some tweaking to be a bit more intuitive though

well... you reduce your to hit.... attack.

so since 20 = max.

it means when you hit you do gobs of damage. when you miss... well you miss more often just like normal with power attack.

true it could use some help.

and thus why i posed the question.

it is open to interpretation and additional comments.
