Already? Wow, that's a pretty good turn around from "in the theaters" to being on network television.

Note the initials... ;)

In November 2004, it will be a good two years (more or less) since The Fellowship of the Ring first opened in theaters.

I read when FotR first came out that WB network paid big money for exclusive rights to show the movies on network television.

Dear Lord... Can you imagine sitting there, entranced by the Hobbits' narrow escape from the ringwraith at the Buckleberry ferry...

Only to have the sceen go dark and them some schmuck is trying to sell you a Toyota Tundra, or spongemonkeys are singing about Quiznos?! I cannot think of another movie--other than Schindler's List, perhaps--for which commercial breaks would be more jarring than FotR. (Or the TT and RotK, for that matter.)

We'll be watching on DVD only, yes we will, my preciousssss... :D

Feh. If the commercial slot is between the Buckleberry Ferry Escape and the Town of Bree scene, I don't mind.

But if it were between Aragorn telling Frodo to run and then Aragorn facing the Uruk-Hai Scouting Party at Amon Hen, then I'd have a fit.

BTW, will they be broadcasting the theatrical version or EE?

I'd say theatrical and then at some later point they, or someone else, will get the extended version (that's how it woked for Starz).
