If it's true, I'll be disappointed. I was flat-out told by Bill Slaviscek and Greg Leeds that there wouldn't be a 4.5. It's going to be difficult to support that claim if they're no longer printing the core rules.

What if it's the same rules in a different book? I mean, that's my understanding of the Rules Compendium.
3.0 ---- > 3.5 you bought new books for updated rules. 3.0 not longer reprinted.
Do you see analogies? I do.
No, I don't. 3.5 removed skills, changed spell lists, and drastically modified class features. Essentials adds new options. Here's the important thing, which I will bold out of mild frustration.
You don't need to change anything about your current character if you're playing in a game run by a GM who started with Essentials.

It's gonna be funny as hell when the PHB 1 material doesn't vanish from the Character Builder or the Compendium. (And if it does, I will absolutely 100% eat crow.)
I've received a tip that all future 4e releases will be in 3-D and delivered free of charge to my front door. And I have all the same proof those guys do.
Just more Essentials wharrggllbarrglle.
