No Resurrection

Has anyone ever played a D&D game like this?

I dont like it in games when your get to that point where you will never die unless you are fighting a powerful wizard that can trap you soul.

So why not just take it out all together, the only way one could be resurected was bye Lathander (The god of life, or at least I think thats him) or Kelemvor (The god of death)

So what do you think?

i think not. first off, you don't always have the chance of being resurrected. you also lose a level unless you use true resurrection, which is a very powerful spell that only very high level clerics can cast, and you don't meet very high level clerics every day. in my game the dm allows resurrection, still, we the players fear our character's death as if it was the end of the game nontheless.

I'm sorry I didnt make myself clear. You cannot be brought back to life by any means. so when you do die, not even Wish can bring you back, the only thing I would allow is if a god was willing to do so (of that is a rare occasion)

why do you think clerics have the power to bring back the dead? because their god is giving them that power! only those who have proven themselvs wothy in their god's eyes (high level enough as a cleric of that god) get to use that power, and still, as all other cleric spells, at the god's pemisson.

I think generally completely removing resurrection magic is a bad idea... especially at high levels with those save or die spells. If you want to do this, you probably need to address the death spells too. Perhaps, a compromised position is that resurrection is possible only if the deceased (not the cleric) has found favor in the god's eyes, i.e. being a faithful worshipper, perhaps made huge donations, etc. Or a quest is required to get the approval.
