Nobody talking about PHBII or other supplements?

In my mind, I equate it with the 1st edition book Ruins of Adventure (aka Pools of Radiance). I think that, had it been marketed along those lines, it might be getting better reception, but as it stands, it seems to be a love it or hate it kind of book with most fans.

Actually, now it sounds like something I might like. I usually give FR a pass, only because I'm not a fan of world specific stuff...this book sounds a little more generic.

There was a PHBII thread on the front page just a day or so ago.
And how long as it been out?

How long as Complete Divine been out? I've seen a number of threads on the Complete Divine since this thread started, even.

How long as Draconomicon been out? How many threads have you seen on it?

Do you think there'll be more, fewer, or the same number of PHBII threads after PHBII has been out as long as Draconomicon has been out now?

Well since my PHBII arrived a few days ago I'll keep this thread warm: it's fantastic. I'm not really very interested in the classes and feats, but I will say that the prestige paladin etc. is an excellent half-way house between a base class and a true PrC and I can see many of my players taking one of those options in the future.

The second half of the book is just superb: affiliations, teamwork benefits, character rebuilding and the attendant mini-scenarios... so many good opportunities. I can well imagine the latter being part of the core rules in a new edition, as I've played around with respeccing a few stock PC's and it all seems to work very well.

There's at *least* as much in there for DM's as for player's. Wizards have scored a bullseye with this one as far as I'm concerned.

Don't think you are. PHB II is a well put together set of options which everyone can understand, hence little discussion. The only really controversial bits are the knight's tauntability and the character rebuilding chapter.

Edit: tauntability should be taunt ability. I've left it in because it's a pretty funny typo.

I've decided that I like the knight, but I'm going to house rule him because of the taunt ability. I'm looking to dump the taunt ability and adjust by adding some extra armor abilities or by adding bonus feats to the character.

didn't do much to advance the time line or history of Zhential Keep or the other areas,
And this is a good thing. That whole "advance the timeline" novel-created nonsense is what hurts the FR product line.

Agreed with the rest, though. MotM isn't all that great, due to the fact that the adventure snippets were indeed pretty dull.

As for the OP's question - for me, it's because I haven't bought an actual rulebook in a couple of years. Setting material only for me these days.

Arn,

Yeah well it wouldn't hurt to see how Zhential Keep's changed now that Cyric isn't in charge. In any event, I gave my reasons.

Truthfully, I ought to make arrangements to my MotM in the next month or so; I used to LOVE it when groups adventured in Mulmaster and Zhentil Keep, because it has such a Mark Rogers "Zorachus" feel to them... they're places loaded with both unappreciated history and contradictions. Paladins have absolute FITS there. :)
