Non-humanoid liches

I checked Advanced Bestiary. Looks like something that would be worth getting. Thanks for the suggestions. Too bad there doesn't seem to be much in the way of options for psionic characters. I really want to do a big nasty undead psionic fish. Looks like I'll be off on my own a bit for that though.

Ultazen,

I'm pretty sure Hyperconsciousness has a 3.5 psionic Lich.

Vraille,

Yes Orcus WAS undead. Now he's alive and ready to have undead kick some more ass! :D

These creature suggestions for liches raise interesting ideas. But let't take this to the next level. What would a Beholder Demi-lich look like? :D

Serious, I can see a lot of promise here. Wasn't there an online article at WotC a while back about a psionic variant of liches? I seem to recall that there was a lot of criticism about it, but I cannot recall why.

Hm, I recall no such article...anyone got a link if they do remember it?

Hyperconscious does indeed have a psionic lich. Thanks, Nightfall, I'll have to look into that. The next campaign will likely feature baddies from the Far Realms and still needs a BBEG, hence the interest in liches, especially applied to aberrations. The input is appreciated.

Can't find any article about psionic liches through Google, and I don't remember one.

For a beholder demilich I'd go with a glowing red orb (former central eye) orbited by 10 smaller orbs that sling spells. Or something like that.

Ult,

No problem. I knew that had a lot of 3.5 updates from If Thoughts Could Kill and also Mindscapes. So I thought it would have a psionic lich template.

One idea for you to try out if you need a Far Realm Baddie, use the Dark Plea as your ultimate one, and have a few of his minions. They're pretty powerful.

Green Ronin's Book of Fiends has a unique devil called Jalie Squarefoot ("the Lichfiend) that has achieved lichdom. Libre Mortis has stats for making liches of evil outsiders. Vecna is a god-lich.

There's also a dream lich in Occult Lore, which turns a humanoid creature into a dream-haunting incorporeal creature.

Finally, the demilich can hardly be called "humanoid" in shape because it little more than a tiny body part filled of concentrated ultimate evil.

I love liches too!!

The Dry Lich template in Sandstorm can be added to ANY living creatures with 10 levels of Walker in the Waste (a prestige class in said book). It's somehow like the mummy in the movie The Mummy, and is better than a normal lich in many ways.

In Races of Destiny, there's a feat (and a variant rule) that allows creatures with human blood (like tieflings or half-dragon human) to become humanoid with human sybtype (therefore can get lich template as normal humanoids) rather than outsiders /dragons/ whatever. Maybe you can change Yuan-Ti (I think they're created from humans in the ancient age) or Medusa (most of them have to mate with male humans to produce children) into humanoids in this way.

Powerful artifacts can create many unusual effects too. There's a sor 10 stone giant lich mentioned in FR Underdark. I assume he gets the template only because of an ancient artifact crown he wears (you know, he doesn't even have 11 caster levels!).

There's a template of fiend lich in a Dungeon issue (of the shackled city series). It's much more detailed and flavored than what's mentioned in Libre Mortis IMHO.
