Maybe the Empire had force adept wookie slaves producing them. Force training doent always mean Jedi. Or Darth took up sabre making as an artistic outlet

please in the movies they never mention crystals. I forget which star wars book started this mess. The only one I kept was Splinter of an Mind's Eye and only because Foster wrote it.

As for Sith, the reason they use red is because they get their crystals from Korriban, the Sith homeworld. It has nothing to do with being 'forced' to by the Jedi. Though, arguably, the majority of Sith(During Tales of the Jedi stuff) actually used non-Red crystals, as they were fallen Jedi. [unquote]

Didn't the Sith (the Dark Jedi variation, not the race) have to use Sith Alchemy to synthesis their crystals (per the SW RPG)?

The actual Sith used Sith Swords that were alchemically treated and were essentially lightsabers made of metal. But the fallen Jedi who called themselves Sith used lightsabers made by the same source as Jedi. Or at least, there's nothing to suggest otherwise that I remember. Though it wouldn't surprise me if some of the false-Sith altered the crystals for their own benefit.
