Non-Ranger 3.5E Changes

I dont have a problem with the armor restrictions for the druid. And I dont have a problem in theory with the weapon restrictions either I just think some got left out that should be in(scythe and bows spring to mind).
I think the armor thing is also seen as a balance against the cleric...its one of the things that keeps druids a little below clerics in melee. of course clerics and melee's a whole other thing..

I thought I read in Dragon that the druid class has the most changes, but I bet most of those changes cover spell lists and animal companion.

I am also one of the believers that the druid is an underused class. They are one of the few classes that can be very diverse and fill several different roles in the group. My favorite is rolling free trip attacks with wolf animal companions.

That would still enable the druids to cast their spells with impunity!

You do mean that, Divine Spell Failure on their divine spells for all metal armor worn don't you Seule?

With respect to druids:

They should also change the spell reincarnation so that it is compatible with Savage Species and the LA/ECL system.

Are there going to be changes to some of the feats? For instance, I hope the Two Weapon Fighting chain gets brought in line with the d20 modern version.

My only beefs with druid weapons: They should be able to use bows. and yea now you mention scythe is a VERY druidy weapon. its also basicaly a big sickle which they can use anyway.

At the absolute bare minimum sorcerers need to be able to use Quicken Spell. even if they full round cast time on metamagic remains, Quicken needs to be made the expetion to the rule.

I will definitly agree on the scythe. i would also allow druids the option to use a clawlike exotic weapon provided they spend the feat as normal if the campaign had one.

As far as the bow, i would say nooo way, every arrow is another tree limb amputated. A haft / body of a weapon is one thing since you keep swinging it and need the wood once until accident breaks it, But arrows need replacement after every use [ technicaly 50% chance to recover an arrow that missed.] and you would just have to hurt too many trees.

from what i understand on 3.5E sorcerers will be able to use quicken spell. mostly because 3.5e HASTE does NOT let you cast extra spells! :) :D ;) a spell casterMUST use quiken to do the 2 spells in a round bit. this will be of great help to keep them in line with the non caster characters.

Lightning strikes regularly kill trees...thats part of nature. Dont really have to cut down a whole tree to make arrows anyway really. I'm sorry if they dont want to kill trees they should never use anything that is made by killing a tree wether its one or one thousand...which rules out just about any weapon with wood in it besides the club and staff. But all weapons with wood components on the druid list can be made from limbs..even fallen ones...including arrows and bows.
Edit: also by that reasoning they couldnt wear cloth armor. or hide or leather either really since it involves killing animals. actualy thats even more an issue since you cant take an animals skin without killing it but you can take wood from a tree without killing it.

A house rule I played with once said that Druids wearing metal armor were prevented from taking wildshape.

////////////////////////////////////////

other ideas...

...or you could simply apply metal armor/sheild "mundane" check penatlies as a penalty to the DC of thier druid spells.

...or apply the metal armor/sheild "mundane" check penalties to thier wisdom score (without actually reducing it) for the purposes of casting their druid spells.
