Where is that domain from? Don't think I've seen it yet.
Not beauty. Fey. From the BoED. I got confused because I'm most interested in the "if looks could kill, and they do" spells.

Sorry for the mixup.

EDIT: BTW, do wizard familiars get stronger through the MT levels, or only for the first 3 wizard levels?

EDIT EDIT: But dang, now that I think about it... why hasn't anyone written a Beauty domain?

I've refined the character concept a bit. It's going to be a feytouched (dryad) NPC, so a definite woodsy-nature-y type. If I go with cleric, I'll do Plant and Good (or possibly Beauty) domains, but I just can't get over how cool those druid spells are. It's the arcane side that's throwing me off. I can't seem to find a good fit.

Since it's going to be a feytouched, I can see her having buku ranks in perform, so a bard might be good, too.. Thoughts?

That's a really nice idea. The downside is you've picked the two casting classes that get the most non-spell abilities. Druid loses all the better wildshape forms, which is a hit.

The problem with the bard is that the cool music abilities are linked to bard level, so your MT levels won't help you. You'll be stuck fascinating and inspiring courage - not bad, but not great either. Same with your knowledge checks, which depend on bard level.

Also, since you progress so slowly in spell levels anyway, your bard casting takes a big hit. It doesn't look like as big a deal b/c bards cap out so low anyway, but it weakens an already somewhat weak area. Just something to think about - I still think it sounds cool.

As an aside, MT levels probably wouldn't up your familiar. They go up by class level, and refer you to sorcerer or wizard levels. But it does talk about "classes entitled to familiars" level-stacking, so maybe you can weasel something in if your DM lets you.

Heheh... seeing as how I'm the DM designing an NPC, I feel a Rule 0 coming on...

BTW, I decided to go with a regular wizard/cleric combo, with Fey and Plant domains. In the end, you guys are right; those are the two classes other than sorceror with the least number of non-spellcasting abilities after first level.

Bard would have worked better for MT if you used the 3.0 version, simply because completely lacks crunchy class bits after first. Don't see why anyone would want to play one.

Consider a Mystic/Sorceror/Theurge. Mystic is a sorceror-like Cleric; you get one Domain (ANY one, except Magic), and spells per day / spells known like a Sorceror.

So, Sorceror(4)/Mystic(4)/Theurge(whatever) ... ^_^

Wizard/Apostle of Peace/Mystic Theurge. 9th level spells in both. 20th level caster in both. The end.

Joachim, only as a 30th level character.

And for that spread ... Sorceror(7)/Apostle(10)/Theurge(10)/Archmage(3) would do you better. Still 20th level caster in both Sorceror and Apostle, still 9th level spells in each, but also slightly better HP, a few Archmage arcana (I recommend mastery of elements, mastery of shaping, and arcane reach).

Go human, pick up the Vow of Poverty at level 1, and milk the broken Voluntary Poverty bonus-feat effect for all it's worth.

Make sure to get Eschew Materials and (at epic levels) Ignore Material Component; that dodges the cost of most spellcasting. Sorceror dodges the cost of a spellbook, as well.

It wouldn't be 30th level, more like 22nd... Apostle casts as Apostle level + 1/2 other casting levels. As you gain Mystic Theurge levels, you gain levels of Sorc/Wizard as well. For a Wiz(Sorc) 9 / Apostle 2 / Theurge 9 you would have 18 levels of Arcane caster and 20 levels of Divine caster.

Arcane - 9 + 9 = 18

Divine - 2 + 9 + 1/2(18) = 20

And you would have 9th level divine spells at 19th level and 9th level arcane spells at 20th level.
