NewJeffCT: Immobilization doesn't grant CA (I only tell you this in case your resident rules lawyer tries to ruin your plans.)

thanks for the correction - I must have been thinking of another condition.

found the descriptor - I was not as crazy as I thought:
The goblin crazy description specifically says: Hit: 6 damage, and the target is immobilized and grants combat advantage until the end of its next turn. The goblin crazy drops to 0 hit points.

I tried the invigorating build fighter once. Honestly, it was pretty boring because it was too easy. You might want to ask your friend if he wouldn't mind trying a different build before you start re-modifying every encounter just to give him a challenge. He might welcome the idea. On the other hand if he really loves his character as is, then go ahead and design around him.

First up, it sounds like he's probably errata'd his fighter himself. Here's how it should work:

1. Whenever he hits a foe with a non-invigorating power, he gains his con mod in temporary hitpoints.

2. Whenever he hits a foe with an invigorating power, he gains twice his con mod in temporary hitpoints.

3. Temporary hitpoints NEVER STACK.

One other thing, you can add to #1...

1. Whenever he hits a foe with a non-invigorating power OR misses a foe with an invigorating power, he gains his con mod in temporary hitpoints.

Really? I had a lot of fun w/ my Goliath Battlerager. I personally didn't find it boring. And my experience was, he isn't as invulnerable as people make battleragers out to be (post errata anyway). I still got knock unconcious and took real damage to my hit points, but not as often as my non-battlerager defender builders (which includes a Paladin and Swordmage). They are definately more durable (but isn't that what defenders are supposed to be anyway?) but not impossible to take out.

Holy wow guys!

I've had a busy couple of days and I didn't expect this much of a response when I decided to check in tonight. Thank you all so very much.

To answer some of the questions, the group just leveled to lvl 8, so if character can reach 11 temp hp at lvl 1 that's not so bad. He can do a lot of damage, just not consistently.

I've been trying to mix up the fights some, with brutes, minions, and artillery. I think my biggest problem is I've just not been putting the pressure on him, or even the rest of the squad, as much as I should be. I think I've been limiting myself too much to a "theme" as things go, and I'll start looking to broaden my horizons some.

I'll look into his character and see if there's any errata that needs to be applied.

Thanks for all the advice guys :)
