Normal vision, low-light vision, darkvision, oh my!

That's an interesting way of handling it, Planesdragon. How's it been working in actual play?
Fairly well, actually. Not a single player has objected to farsight instead of low-light vision. Haven't had a chance to use nightsense, though--gamers in my circle just don't play dwarves. :(

I should probably mention that darkvision does still exist--there just aren't any core PC races that have it without a spell or magical ability.

Now think on this:

At night, under a starry sky. . .

a human and a halfling can see all around in shadowy condition.

a gnome and an elf can see all around clearly.

a dwarf and a orc can see 60' in black and white, but what do they see beyond that? Shadows?

In my mind, since dwarves and orcs can see in the daytime in color, I would say they see just like a human or halfling beyond their 60' range - it would be shadowy.
