[NOT OT] Siege weapons in "The Messenger"

It's not a historical gizmo. I'll echo the sentiment that it would look hella-cool in front of a column of orcs, though.

Honestly, most of the battle/armour stuff isn't. Yeah, the producers of "The Messenger" can crow about using the transcripts of Jehanne d'Arc's trial all they want, but the fact is, a decent researcher can obtain a copy of those without breaking a sweat.

[Lengthy semi-ranty piece about problems with the arms and armour in "The Messenger" snipped due to excessive snarkiness. However, I will say that I studied fencing with their fight choreographer when he ran a fencing school in San Antonio in the 1970s* and was rather surprised to see his name up there on the screen.]

*What he was doing in San Antonio in the 1970s, I no longer recall. Probably something to do with Modern Pentathalon, as there is a major training facility for that sport at Ft. Sam Houston. I seem to remember he was an Olympic medalist at Munich, but I'm too lazy to verify that right now.

Huh... Okay, I guess it was made up, so it appears.

Anybody have any good suggestions what I might name it, then? I still want to use it in a campaign, and I'd rather not just call it the whirly-spinny thing. :D

I wouldn't be quick to guess it was made up by the movie producers. Maybe it was, I don't know. But my uninformed opinion of that movie's historical accuracy is that it was fairly good.

I haven't seen that movie in a long while, but my memory tells me that the historical accuracy was pretty miserable.
