Not With a Bang, II: Life and Undeath Situation

Grunlor continues to close the gap with the Zombies, if necessary charging the nearest threatening foe. If he's not charging, he will swing his axe with all his might (ooc: Power Attack +2) at said foe.

OOC: For my information more than anyone elses, Keros' memorized spells in zombie-fighting mode: 4x Acid Splash, 1x Detect Magic, 1x Magic Missile, 1x Summon Monster I, 2x Burning Hands, 1x Comprehend Languages. Good to finally be here!

Next turn Keros will move back away from the zombies 20ft, and cast Summon Monster I to summon a Celestial Hawk in the midst of the zombies, and in a position to flank any zombie that gets involved in combat with the party.

Grinder steps forward, firing a crossbow bolt at the nearest zombie, the same one Arkan fired at. It hits, dropping the rotting corpse to the ground, dead--a second time.

Selene takes cover behind one of the numerous trees (+4 to AC) and fires a bolt into the nearest standing zombie. It hits squarely, puncturing... what used to be a lung.

One of the slightly crisp zombies converges on Keros, smacking him once with what would have passed for an arm several years ago. (6 pts. damage). The other zombies, two of whom fail to recognize Keros as their immediate threat, lumber slowly forward. One of them reaches Grunlor, but cannot attack this round; the other three are now within thirty feet of the main party.

Brevin chants a quick prayer to Litsi and, striding forward, holds out his holy symbol. "Begone, foul wretches!" The four zombies not attacking Keros suddenly seem stricken, and look as though ready to flee.

Nojin, seeing his chance, charges the nearest zombie, his urgrosh drawn. He slashes at it, opening a gash in what used to be its stomach. Nojin is smart enough not to look to see what comes out instead of blood.

Baril takes aim at the zombie Nojin isn't hitting, putting an arrow smack into the zombie next to the melee. Arkan follows with two more arrows, one of which seems to bounce off the zombie, the other of which impales its leg.

OOC: Mechanics

Grinder: attack roll 18+2 = 20 hit; damage roll 7.
Selene: attack roll 6+6 = 12 hit; damage roll 6.
Zombie 6: attack roll 18 hit; damage roll 6.
Brevin: turn check 10+1=11 => 2 HD and lower affected; turning damage rolls [3+4]+3 = 10 HD.
Nojin: attack roll 17+5 = 22 hit; damage roll 1+6 = 7.
Baril: attack roll 15+4 = 19 hit; damage roll 4.

--next round--

Arkan: attack rolls 5+4 = 9 miss; 14+4 = 18 hit; damage roll 3.

--------
Chaos: There is a zombie next to Keros, which wasn't there before you posted your action. Are you certain you want to move back 20 ft and provoke an AoO, or would you rather take a 5-ft step?

For the record: five zombies are still up, and all but one are under the effects of Brevin's turning.

Arkan

Arkan will follow the fleeing goblins, slowly, continuing to fire arrows at them.

"Let's dispense with these quickly and see what's going on in the city. It looks like the irregulars were right about Melian."

OOC: Actually, the whole action is going to have to change. I don't much fancy trusting to my AC next turn. I'll 5ft step away and summon the hawk right in the zombie's face.

Grinder takes grim satisfaction in watching his target drop. He quickly reloads and fires at another zombie - preferably one not engaged with one of his companions.

(ooc: not sure if I missed an opportunity to attack. Also, going out of town for a few days, but hotel should have net access. Feel free to autopilot Grunlor if you want to move it along and don't hear from me.)

Grunlor will attack the nearest zombie on his initiative.

Keros steps back from the zombie and begins casting a spell, hoping to catch the zombie off-guard. Grunlor rushes forward, hacking into the nearest zombie with his waraxe, and seriously impairing the zombie's stuctural integrity.

Grinder, meantime, fires at one of the zombies further back (as both of the frontmost zombies are currently engaged in melee). It staggers, but is still up. Selene continues firing from her crossbow, hitting Grinder's target easily. It staggers a second time, but remains standing.

The zombie nearest Keros, which was unaffected by the turning, again closes and hits the wizard. (3 pts damage). The other four zombies, most of them rather badly injured, move away, scared off by Brevin's turning. They're running scared, and not paying attnetion, and two of them draw AoO's: one from Grunlor, who hits, utterly destroying the zombie in front of him; the other from Nojin, who also destroys the zombie nearest him.

Brevin moves further forward, and attempts to turn the zombie attacking Keros. The zombie cowers in the presence of his holy symbol. Nojin now charges one of the retreating zombies, but his axe misses its mark.

Baril shoots another arrow at the zombie he'd hit before, kncking its arm off but otherwise not fazing it. It seems to be more concerned with getting away.

Arkan moves slowly ahead, firing two more arrows at the zombie Selene had hit. The first arrow barely grazes it, but the second arrow takes it down.

Keros, hit by the zombie, concentrates to maintain his spell, but has no difficulty doing so. His celestial hawk slashes at the zombie in front of him with its talons.

OOC: Mechanics:

Grunlor: attack roll 12+5 = 17 hit; damage roll 4+3 = 7
Grinder: attack roll 19+2 = 21 hit; threat roll 3+2 = 5 miss; damage roll 6.
Selene: attack roll 9+6 = 15 hit; damage roll 6.
Zombie 6: attack roll 17 hit; damage roll 3.
Grunlor AoO: attack roll 15+5 = 20 hit; damage roll 9+3 = 12.
Nojin AoO: attack roll 12+6 = 18 hit; damage roll 5+6 = 11.
Brevin: turning check 13+1 = 14 (3 HD); damage roll 9+3 = 12 HD.
Nojin: attack roll 2+6+2(chg) = 10 miss.
Baril: attack roll 15+4 = 19 hit; damage roll 4.

-- next round --

Arkan: attack rolls 8+4 = 12 hit; 12+4 = 16 hit; damage rolls 1, 2.
Keros: Concentration check DC 14, roll 20+7 = 27 save.
Hawk: Attack roll 15+5 = 20; damage roll 1-2 = 1.

Chaos, Keros's spell finishes, but you still have your full turn. You're next :)
