Notes on the Aether (Rae judging)

"There you are," says Keldar. "You'll have to trust yourself to Keldar's capable hands. Speaking of which, with all these interruptions, I still haven't taken apart the device in the fireplace." He goes back to finally finish the task.

"Maybe it's just the fumes in the fireplace," says Keldar, "but I think everything is going quite well so far. I can almost hear myself relating the outcome of our little adventure back at the Red Dragon, to an admiring crowd."

Hear now, all heroes,.......standing in silence,
Of deepest danger.......in Thyrin’s tall tower.
Summoned slaves,.......of stone and soil,
Fierce flame and fire,.......rose in revolt and riot.
The witless wizard,.......foolish and feeble,
Seeking sure safety.......hid from the hazard.
The call came for Keldar........For promised payment
He raced to the rescue,.......followed by friends,
And a petulant paladin.......constantly complaining.
A lady of lightning,.......drawn to the doorway,
Granted them guidance.......made mostly misleading
By incomplete information.......imparted in ignorance.
Swift shining swords.......ended elementals’ existence.
Keldar coped capably........With delicate digits
He tamed tricky traps.......and disabled devices.
In wisdom, with water.......he wet what he wore.
No fear of flame.........can concern Keldar.

"Is anyone feeling inspired with courage yet? Honestly, I could keep that up all day. That's the sort of poetry the giants used to chant back when I - Well. All done here."

OOC: presumably.

"Well, what are you waiting for?" Rapture asks.

"Cassandra says there may be a device in the lab to generate an electrical spark."

OOC: Honestly, a wand of Prestidigitation would work, as it could do that for an hour. Heck, the spell could probably do it. Of course, Rapture doesn't know these things.

"The lab that is on one of the upper floors in any case," says Keldar. "We shall have to do it the hard way. Or will we?

Inside the inglenook,.......Keldar considered
Scaling the smokestack.......to the top of the tower;
An ambushing advance,.......spurning the stairways.

Stop me when it gets, you know, too inspiring."

In passing Tarag considers that if he rolls his eyes too much, one of these days they'll roll right out of their sockets. He catches Galwynn's eye, raises a questioning eyebrow, and points up the stairs.

When the paladin leads the way, he takes Tommy's arm and climbs the staircase. He's keen to keep moving - and to get away from Keldar's inane chattering, at least for the moment.

Keldar turns around. "Hey, where'd they go? Oh, Rapture, sweetness, you didn't ask them to leave us alone together, did you? I'm all covered in soot. They'll only get themselves in trouble and need rescuing anyway. We'd better go after them."

"Witless wizard, indeed!" Tommy mutters indignantly. "See if I give him any help with the next device."

OOC: I'll be out of town until Monday night and unable to post.

Rapture, having followed Tarag, is no where to be found.
"Although, I suppose we can spare... one... stolen... moment," says Keldar, who for some reason is standing with his eyes closed and his head on one side. Several such moments pass. He opens one eye. "Halina's hairy armpits!" he exclaims and runs up the stairs.
"Ha... hello," he says, to Rapture, having caught up. "You didn't, I don't know, just take offence and storm away in the last three seconds, did you? You headed upstairs at least ten seconds ago, right? Because otherwise, I'm fairly sure there wasn't enough air in the fireplace. Dizzy and light-headed. All better now."[sblock=OOC]Poor, poor Keldar. Not only does he live in a dangerous fantasy world, he, well, lives in a dangerous fantasy world.

Rae, we seem to have kind of skipped ahead without you. :uhoh: :\ :heh: I blame... them. If Keldar can't dismantle the fireplace summoning device with a simple 'All done here' at the end of a posting, uh... I can successively re-edit #682[/sblock]

"I don't know what you're talking about, I've been here with Tarag, Galwynn and Tommy. If I were mad at you, you'd know it." Rapture says
