D&D 5E Noticing an unseen hidden character by touching?

I'm unsure how to rule it. We already established via Sage Advice that hiding ends when someone can be seen clearly. So that usually works fine for my group. But there can be the situation that a character is unseen (invisibility, darkness) even if the enemy is standing next to him. So what happens if the enemy then "accidentally" runs into the character? Would you make him notice that character or assume that hiding involves quickly moving out of his path to not be noticed?

If the hidden character can see, they should be able to move out of the way before being run into, unless severely distracted (DM's discretion). If the hidden character is blind (i.e. darkness), then they wouldn't be able to do so, and running into them would end being hidden.

If it's a player that's hidden, I would have them make a hide check to get out of the creature's way if it is a medium or smaller if they are trying to remain hidden and see them,coming. If it's larger, then you lost your hidden status.

Case-by-case ruling, obviously.

I would agree that anything you are touching is not hidden from you. The mechanics of how to avoid an accidental (or on purpose) touch will vary I suppose. By the book I think the only thing you can do (in combat) is ready an action to move out of the way if an enemy approaches.

I'm not sure how it was established that the enemy ran into the character. I assume you mean it entered the character's space. This is possible if the movement is unopposed by the character, and I would rule that with a successful check no contact is made. Whether the character can see its enemy is irrelevant. Unless the enemy is also successfully hidden, the character knows where it is at all times. If they're both hidden, I'd rule they miss each other.

I'd make the hide check be at disadvantage, since they have already come to the attention of the creature that bumped into them.

Also, invisibility affects the behavior of light around the invisible creature(s) or object(s). It doesn't alter odors in any way.

Well the reason I would have them,use a reaction and refill their stealth, is to see if they can move out of the creature's oath before it touches them and not be noticed. So it essentially allows the creature to move through the character's square. If they fail then the creature notices it. If the character can't see the creature, then they don't get the reaction. If they fail their stealth check, then the creature notices the character and can attack with disadvantage since it now knows where the character is.
