OldschoolDnD

First Post
AD&D Allum, veterans, rememberers of yesturyear, Set in your ways? Miss the time when gaming mechanics made sense? I do? remember when Gaming involved some basic math, when leveling up was a simple process, not something you doubled down and put in selectional boxes concerning your class of improvement? Are you In the DC area? Well.....are you???

Well put down those painted fourth edition plastic figures, and bust out the old school Ral Parthas That could kill your cat if it ate one, bust out your dice and those vintage 1st and 2nd edition books with the nekkid female monsters in the monster manuels 1 and 2 and resurrect without constitution check the 1st/2nd edition hybrid of DnD!

Current locations for possible play is home base in fairfax, and DC Comics located in Springfield, as well as the games palor found in Potomac Mills. nothing solid till a group is gathered. I am looking for veteran players, but not rule lawyers, I am Not worrying about encumberances, how much tinder you got in your box, the length of your rope nor your ration count. Common sense explainations and certain activities that will gain xp will take care of all that. Im looking for players who are laid back, quick with a joke, or will light up your smoke. People who will both banter over politics or is able to bust out some movie references if gaming situations are similar (Primarily, Monty Python, Spaceballs, big trouble little china, Ghostbusters etc etc) basically anything with great one liners.

usual gaming universe is based on the dragonlance world of Krynn, but standard DnD is also played so eitherway the group wishes to go. Personally never played a Halfling, or a Kender gotten a Gf to play a Kender once, she did it actually very good. Anyway, lots of options will be offered in my games for I love creativity and storytelling.

Hope to find some fellow oldschoolers in the NoVa/DC area....

Yo!

Been away from EnWORLD for a looooong time (and any other boards for that matter). I was in an FR 3E game, but it was way overpowered (and too fulla rules lawyers, honestly) for my taste. The GM picked that up quickly and asked me if I would like to sit out and wait for a new campaign to start, next year likely, so I've been sorta looking around.

If the GameParlor in Chantilly weren't always full to the rafters I'd suggest that as well. I live in Leesburg, but don't mind the drive into Chantilly most of the time, depending on when game play was expected to be.

Let me know if you're still looking for warm (or at least not decaying) bodies.

I may take you up on that. Im familar with the game parlor in Chantilly. I'll have to find out how to reserve a table or what would be the better days.

they were supposed to put up a sign up on their website (gamparlor.com). I'd assume you could also call them to reserve something.

Not very familiar with Dragonlance, so i'd hafta beg a learning curve, as I've either played in a homebrew world or FR. Other than that, I'll be the dated comedic movie/tv puns and one liners if you bring the fun D&D-goodness.

do not worry about not knowing about dragonlance, when I secure enough people where I start the preliminary setup of when and where I will be emailing info out about the game, each player is going to start with two characters, one at a higher xp percentage than the other.. Dragonlance material and info will be provided. for basic stuff such as being a fighter or a thief or ranger etc you don't really need to have a indepth grasp of Dragonlance knowledge.. However the Dragonlance gaming world Is particular on wizards and clerics... The wizards are separated by alignment each represented by a colored robe (which represents the three moons of Krynn alla the gods of Magic) Each Order of wizards has a specific set of spell spheres which can either be interchangible from different robes like if spell shares the same sphere like conjuration or something...or an unique sphere that is exclusive to that robe.

For Clerics the Gods of Krynn have their own spheres of influence and their clerics only cast those spells within their God or Goddess's influence. Any spell outside these spheres cast must be done at special consideration, Alla done at the promise of a personal trial or committing of a sacrifice.

All the races of krynn have their own wealth of info and stuff, but that can be learned along the way. What my epic really is going to be , it is going to be a Tour of Ansalon, the continent of Krynn the party will be from and involved with. There will be books that can be gotten to assist on the learning, but no worries about it now..
