"Now You all know The bards and their songs..."

 Drove to work today listening to Blind Guardian, skipped over in the forest to get to the hobbit though.

But any multiclassing leaves the EB and invocations hanging behind.

Bard-barian is always a fun one. Barbarian levels will give you enough skill points to keep UMD and Perform going strong. Your Initial bard level will boost your bad saves and give you your full spell list.

bard/barbarian? hmm, strange combo
Think of the Barbarian/Bard as a savage skald, singing inspirational battle chants and cheering on his fellow warriors. There are some UA variant bits that could help flesh out the concept well. If you go this route consider the Rage Mage PrC from Complete Arcane to let you cast while raging.

Currently I am playing a Bard - 4th / Wizard - 5th / Loremaster - 6th with practiced spell caster. I know everything. It drives my DM nuts, but in a good way.

bard/barbarian kinda reminds me of a Viking clan chanting warcries before a battle

szilard, I like the feeling you get from the bard, especially the "usual" bard, a guy traveling form town to town, playing at inns in exchange of meals. singing songs abuot distant lands, you know where this is going, lol.

what I dislike though, is that I get the feeling that the bard is basically prety useless unless he's buffing the party. with a rogue, you can use some sneaky strategies to get the upper hand, a nice tumble check and WHAM sneak attack ftw. with a ninja same thing. Sometimes I feel like the bard is a poorly loved rogue with a couple of spells, a bloke who knows how to sing a couple of songs and stories, but can't rly make much of a stand in the battlefield.

This is probably my lack of experience talking, since I've only played a bard for what...2 or 3 times?

I was looking for a character who'd be peacefully filling the minds of the young with stories of adventure, and kicking ass when things went wrong.

gotta get into a fight with my pillow now. I think it'll knock me out again and I'll only wake up tomorrow, so cya tomorrow

Bbn1 or Bbn2/Bard is your way then. Get a high str, good con and pick up a polearm. Extra Rage, Power Attack and Combat Reflexes. Next feat (level 6 for humans) is Cleave or Imp Toughness. Full Power attack all the time, you'll hit well enough with your strength and bard song. Heroism and Bulls strength are your friends.

I've seen a dude with Con 10 (and str 18) doing this who made the DM stop the campaign since the char proved to be too effective for the humanocentric setting.

Humanocentric setting? Now being too effective against Humanocentric opponents happens as soon as someone who can rage grabs a 2 handed weapon. ;) You must use monsters on barbarians. Only monsters can soak those raging hits and tear the barbarian to ribbons fast enough.
