NPC Healer for a new campaign [Ideas needed]

Erywin

First Post
Well, next week I am starting up a new Eberron campaign to DM and it is looking like the party will need an NPC healer to fill the ranks. Normally we have 6 players in the other campaigns but this one is different as there will be only 3 players as we will be gaming during the day instead of the evening.

I am planning on running Chimes at Midnight leading into Eyes of the Lich Queen. The current party consists of a Half-Elf Dragonshaman (House Lyrandar), a Half-Elf Wu jen and a Goliath Psy Warrior (aka Beatstick).

[Please no Spoilers on the adventures]

I was thinking of making up a halfling healer (House Jorasco), what divine casters out there that are easy to run for a DM PC? I was thinking of Favored Soul to be able to dish out alot of healing. Was also thinking of a non combatant... but don't know how to make it work properly.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
E

Archivist could fill the role as a healer/support PC. They aren't great at combat, so it would make sense for the character to hold back in a fight.

Favored Soul is simple because you don't have to worry abotu changing spell selection.

Maybe a Bard1/Healer? Charisma based... and take the fascinate alternate class feature from CC (Healing Hymn). Definitely has a good chance for lots of healing.

This would be my choice, in large part for the reason Rhun cites. Take Augment healing, the alternate class feature from PHB2 that grants temporary hp when you cast a spell on a buddy, and select a bunch of non standard healing spells. I'd need to check my notes, but there are some cool things such as Invest Minor Protection and Channel Divine Healing to spice up the otherwise dull cure minor/light/moderate/etc. line.

Of course, healer, from the mini-handbook might be a good choice.

I second that. I think the fluff has the class being a bit of a pacifist, so you won't have the NPC making the final hit that drops the BBEG and steals the PCs' thunder.

Thanks,
Rich

Witch alternative spell list for the sorcerer found in the DMG "Characters" chapter, just before (...or is it after?) the PrC's.

You get Sorcerer crunch, low-level (1st-4th) healing, and a neat cross section of spells from different spell lists.
