The intro started different and it didn't seem to have the interview layout, but I would believe it's mostly the same info with an update.

My mom actually sent this one to me. You've messed up when my mom is suddenly up on your corporate shenanigans.
This is not a bad piece of reporting, but it still feels intentionally WotC friendly. It has big "And all was right in the end...." vibes.
Just to remind everyone: this isn't just about the 5.1 SRD. It is about open gaming, broken promises, and corporate greed.

I mean, as far as open gaming and corporate greed goes, the story ends with a corporation releasing a ton of copyrighted text (and, yes, the textual expression is copyrighted) into Creative Commons, so gaming is more open than ever. An outside observer is going to take away "wow, corporate greed lost out to open source material, how coolness that?"
You have to be deep in the inside baseball of the TTRPG world for thst to not ve the big takeaway.
